i agree with your observation and was merely pointing another issue with the new layer folders.
In the hopes the team will take a good look at it.

if you want to move a folder along the timeline you also need to unfold it first

I think the 'lock layer position' should only lock layer position.
and NOT prevent the copy/pasting of its frames, that makes no sense and for that we already have the lock layer.

BTW i can report that the crossfade trick mentioned in that thread does work between layergroups! Thanks for bringing it back up David because i had forgotten all about it! in being able to do it between groups it also at once becomes much more usefull! and on top it also offers a way to work around...

I agree this is wrong and could be considered a UX bug imho. I think you may reasonably expect that when you merge two clips, the newly combined clip is going to be the same length as the two unmerged clips were together. This is not possible as far as i know.
lightable displays only the actual pixels on a layer... it won't do fxstack preview
