Compressed or Uncompressed Quicktime Best For Importing?

I'm currently using TVPaint as a title generator for imported QuickTime files. I've noticed that every file is converted to a "custom" format upon importing into TVPaint. To get the optimum compression and quality, what do you recommend for both importing formats and exporting formats? Is ...

Can Someone Clear Up The Bauhaus Claims?

This ongoing debate (featured over there at CGTalk) is disturbing and disruptive, especially to a new customer like me. I just put down a large sum of cash to obtain TVPaint, based on the trust that the TVPaint product will be around for a while and the TVPaint company will continue to support me an...

Nicolas:

I just purchased TVPaint a few weeks ago. Will I have to, now, pay for this upgrade? This program was not cheap in the first place.

Which models have you, at TVPaint, tried? I don't need an expensive camera solution, so if you have had success with a cheap one, could you post which model(s)?

Thanks,

Yojimbo: No, market share is not everything, but survival may be. I have no idea what the financial situation within TVPaint Developpement is, and am not likely to ever know, but seeing as how nearly the entire animation production world has gone the way of cheaper regardless of quality, can't mean ...

How TVPaint Could Capture The Entire 2D Animation Market

Having been involved in computers and animation since the late 1980's, I've had a chance to be witness to nearly every innovation regarding computer animation including those developed for the AtariST, the Amiga, the Mac and, of course, those Windows things. I'm sure you'll be able to follow where I...

Thank you Peter for the step-by-step. Some of these intricacies of the software are just not that obvious to a new user.

Patrice:

Are you saying that you can assign a different custom brush as the icon for the custom brush you really want to use, thus providing the clearest possible image for the icon?

How is this done?

Thanks,

Larger Icons for Bins and Custom Panels?

I really like TVPaint's ability to form containers for custom brushes, each one specific to a certain set of images. My problem, so far, has been with being able to recognize the individual brushes in each of my custom brush sets. The icons are just too small to be clear, in and of themselves. The o...

Lots of Discussion About TVPaint @ CGTalk, Mirage, etc.

There's a huge controversy about who owns the technology, but everyone seems to be supporting the TVPaint claims over there at CGTalk. Great opportunity to promote the superiority of the new TVPaint over the under-developed Mirage. Somebody needs to clear up the "law suit" claims that the ...

I understand how the different colors could be used, but how did the inventors of this new palette of tools intend for them to be used? All on one layer or in some other fashion? Also, I've tried the gradient light table settings and can't really see a difference in the display over the standard met...

How To Best Use the New Sketch Tools

I'm not used to working with alternate colors for roughing, etc., although this seems like it could be the most efficient way of working. Could any of those who use these color methods explain in more detail the differences between using blue or red/orange and when?

Thanks,

Eric:

I didn't think that the "Image Capture" software for Mac was aimed at scanners, but, rather digital video capture devices. Are you saying that any supported Mac scanner should appear when this application is launched?

Thanks,

HP PSC 1510 Does not Appear to be a Supported Scanner on Mac

I use the HP PSC 1510 "All-In-One" Scanner/Printer/Copier on my Mac. If I have to resort to using pencil and paper for my animations, this is the only scanner available to me. When I attempt to "acquire" it via the File/ICA menu, the software cannot find the scanner. Will my scan...

Here's what I'm shooting for in quality. Just look at the perfection of the curves, particularly the perfect circle representing the head. And, to think they did this with a brush and ink on acetate:
