Re: TVP compared to Retas
Fortunately, Eastern market is more and more noticing all the improvements we are making specifically for them It's not just about the Japan and Korean market though, it's about competing with those markets. How do we win a pitch to a producer or investor that as a classical animaton studio we're a...

Re: TVP compared to Retas
Great post tan_zero, thanks! Was difficult to find an example, but the guy in this video is tracing a scene from Legend of Korra in Photoshop using the pencil tool, so it's all done in monochrome and he even uses the Japanese color separation line technique already elaborated on in this thread, he a...

Re: Persistent instances during playback
Could it be you're not inserting blank instances? Press shift+k or backspace to insert a blank instance before you start drawing. This seems to stump most people who are new to TVPaint. http://s24.postimg.org/k8rb69my9/tvpinst.jpg Disney animator Aaron Blaise has a really good quick start guide to T...

Re: Using the CTG layer for colouring
but Anti-Aliased lines are not managed ... there are issues with gaps and isolated pixels. I had the [Close Gap] set high so it would produce gaps on purpose, so I could demo the [Close Fill] tool. Setting [Close Gap] to a low number will result in no gaps most of the time, it works the same in TVP...

Re: Weird little bug with the cintiq
I had a similar problem but with different software and Windows 7 awhile back (the window issue), not Mac though. It was a bad Wacom driver with the Cintiq display toggle feature when it remaps the stylus back and forth. How about trying this? 1. Open TVP on your Cintiq, with a mouse click anywhere ...

Re: Using the CTG layer for colouring
I've used and own almost every animation software there is (including studio proprietary) and none does coloring better than Retas Studio PaintMan does, at least for anime/celshade/flats. Here is a gif I made using the example image in this thread using PaintMan. http://s12.postimg.org/m1qjjrgl9/ima...

Re: TVP compared to Retas
Hi, I took part in that thread and a long time user of Retas. Unfortunately your method described here is far from being a solution and I hope you will take the time to understand why. This isn’t to do with traditions, this is now part of a much more modern process. The way Retas works is it include...
