Hi Elodie and everyone
This is my first post, so sorry if I don't know the technical lingo!
I have just installed TV paint vers 11 Standard edition onto my MacBook Pro 10.11.4 El Capitan (which is 64 bit), and the lines I'm drawing are very pixellated, I've attached a screen shot.
I'm using an iPad Pro and Astropad to draw on, but I don't think that is the problem as I tried the TV paint trial using this set-up and it was fine.
Might the problem be that I have installed the Standard TV paint package, which is 32 bit and my Mac is 64 bit, or have I done something wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Susan

Re: Pixellation, have I installed the wrong version of TV Pa
Hello Susan, welcome to our community
What are your zoom ratio and project's definition ? TVPaint is a bitmap based software, so the if you have a small project and a high zoom ratio, the result will be pixelated.
To get the most accurate result, your zoom ratio must be 100%

Hi Elodie
Nice to be here! I've never used animation software, so might be making obvious mistakes.
Zoom ratio is 100%, project is 1280 x 720, I've not altered the original settings. I was worried that the pixillation was caused by either using an iPad pro and Astropad as my tablet, or that I should have bought the 64 bit professional version. If it is just settings, maybe I need to adjust something else?

Re: Pixellation, have I installed the wrong version of TV Pa
I have never used the astropad, so I can't tell, but I would be really surprise whether it would influence the line's quality.
Even if TVPaint is an animation software, its drawing technology (raster / bitmap based) is "the same" as other painting software : Gimp, Photoshop, Painter... Bitmap uses pixels to offer rich textures and painting tools (watercolour, pencils, chalks, etc.), which you cannot have with vector based software (Illustrator, Flash, etc.)
So, pixellation depends on the size of your project, the zoom ratio, the brush used (if you use the pen brush, you will have a smooth line / if you use chalks or crayon, obviously you will see pixels, since pixels give textures).

Re: Pixellation, have I installed the wrong version of TV Pa
yes, just tested without Astropad and got the same pixilation, so I must not have set it up right. I'll work through the tutorials and see what I've done wrong, and if I can't fix it I'll post again. Thanks!
