Cintiq 12Wx

Post by Simon Edmondson »

Previously working with an Inuous4 tablet, I thought of getting a cintiq so, before spending money on a large model, decided to try out a 12wx model.
Its a bit small, especially when working at the recommended resolution of 1250 x800.
Using it with a 4K retina screen Imac so the smaller screen is really limiting.
Does anyone know of a way to set up the windows in TVP so I can draw on the tablet, but have all the tools and panels open and available on the Imac, as it will make it much more useable.
Thank you for your time
simon

Unfortunately you can't really split the interface in a satisfying way. I used the 12WX for a short time and found the resolution the biggest downside. At home I use a Cintiq Companion 2, which isn't much larger, but the resolution is way more convincing.
The best thing you can do is to set up a shortcuts to hide all the interface.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I'm only really just starting to use TVP properly so, not very aware of its UI. Could you explain how you setup the shortcuts ?
I've found it easier to use the Intuous than the Cintiq. Partly because of the resolution but, the brightness on the tablet doesn't seem to match the screen. Quite a steep learning curve underway !

Unfortunately there is no "real" fullscreen shortcut, but you can combine two and put them on the same key, like I did here.

The 12WX isn't the most recent model. The newer Cintiqs are way more useful I think. I use a 22HD at the studio and a Companion2 at home, which are both WAY better. And someone from my studio recently bought a MobileStudioPro, which is a dream to work on. The matte display looks great, there is nearly no parallax and it has a slightly rough surface, which makes it great to draw on.

But if you're happy with the Intous, there is probably no reason to buy a Cintiq.

Thats very helpful thank you.
I'd like to try a larger Cintiq but need to upgrade to TVP pro first.
The difficulty with the Intuous comes from staring at the screen so intensely while drawing, but that might just be practice.

I somehow get used to draw on an intuos, but if I now need to draw on an Intuos, I always need a bit more lines to find the right one. But maybe that's cause I'm now used to the Cintiqs.
