Import Video footage with audio track

I'm not sure if this is a bug but when I import a video footage file and enable Import Audio, the video data is imported but the audio data is ignored.

As a workaround, I've been importing the footage as a Clip instead, which does import the audio data as a separate layer. However, I always need to delete a 'blank' project file to make the project usable after closing and re-opening the project. It was explained that is normal behavior for importing as a Clip, which sounds right to me. (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12039)

Obviously, it would be preferable if the footage can be imported with video AND audio as separate layers using the Layer import option.

If this is a bug, can it be fixed? If this isn't a bug, can this feature be changed to allow audio import?

I think it depends on the type of video file. I have occasionally noticed this issue with some videos (where the video imports , but the audio does not import) , but other videos work fine with both the video and audio .

I don't think that's the case here though because TVP does import the audio track if I import the video as a clip. It only ignores the audio if I import it as a layer.
