hello
In one computer of our class room, the main panel of TVPaint 11 has a grey, inactive zone on top. It does not move with the image.
I tried resetting the configuration, rebooting the mac (Mac sierra 10.12.16)
any idea what it can be ?
(I couldn't include the image, so here is a link to the problem : )

Re: grey area on top of main panel
That's the timeline notes showing. You can turn it off by unchecking it at the bottom of the Display menu which is situated at the very bottom right of what we call the Project Panel.

Oh, look! A question I can answer.
That's the Timeline Notes preview display. It corresponds to the timeline notes layer. When you write or draw notes there, it scrolls across the screen at the top. Normally, it should only show during playback when you enable it from the Notes layer (Display During Preview option.)
To disable it, click on the Notes button in the bottom left corner to reveal the Notes layer. Then click where it says 'Top' and uncheck the option called Display During Preview.
Edit: D'oh! Paul beat me to it.

But you explained the purpose of the band. I use it to write notes for my composer or to see beats of my music marked with scribbles, or notes for VO actors where to accentuation certain expressions.

Re: grey area on top of main panel
Sorry for the late thanking !
Just to clarifiy for other people who may have the same problem
- on the top-right of note panel itself there is a menu to configure and display those notes over the drawing area
- on the bottom right of the project/drawing area, to the right of the scale button, it can displayed or unhidden
