I am not sure what the cause or the fix could be. I imported an image to TVPaint and then copied it when I pasted it the drawing stretches.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you copy&paste a frame from one project to another, which had different dimensions? In that case stretching occurs.

If you want to copy and paste while maintaining the aspect ratio between projects of different size,
I think that it is good to use cut tool → custom brush → click paste destination.
