eraser does not work properly

Post by bouwine »

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone knows the answer to a technical issue I’m having.

Yesterday I bought the newest Tvpaint pro 11 and started working with it today.
When I am drawing and use the eraser by clicking the button on my pen, it will erase with a big dot at first. It is only after a second or so that the pressure sensitivity will start working. When I stop erasing it will erase a big dot again. I have attached an example of what I mean. It makes it hard to erase precisely. I am using a custom made brush which I have used in a previous Tvpaint version without a problem. I also noticed that it happens with the standard brushes in the program itself.

This is what I work with:
Macbook Pro, Mac OS Big Sur, version 11.0.1
Wacom 22 HD, driver version: 6.3.41-2

Thanks!
Bouwine

I have tried your suggestion, but unfortunately it does not solve the problem. Could. the problem be, because my computer works with a new chip?

No, I don't think so, it's possibly a bug. I'll check that on monday !

BUT : could it be somehow related to the pressure sensitivity of your Wacom tablet ?

Thinking about this, yes it could actually have an impact.

Did Wacom release a driver for Big Sure ?
Otherwise, the driver you installed works through an "converter" that translates the instructions, to make them understandable by your Macbook processor. It mays explain the wrong pressure value that is received by TVPaint.

Hi Xavier,

My Cintiq has the latest update which is also made for Big Sur. I have made some screenshots.
Perhaps it is a bug in Tv paint after all? If you need more information about my computer please, let me know.

Thanks!

It may be a bug in TVPaint. But since you use Big Sure, it may also be a compatibility bug elsewhere.

I sent you a like to the demo version of the previous version (TVPaint 11.0.10) by PM, please tell me if it behaves the same.

Try with the update, just in case : viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13927

Have you tried starting with a fresh config folder ?
- Close TVPaint
- Go to Library, move all the "tvp animation" folders into a new archive folder (say "tvp config archives").
- Start TVPaint

I'm currently trying to reproduce this, without success so far. Given the screenshot you attached, can I assume that you configured your pen to have F4 on the side button ?
If so, it's rather the drawing mode of your current brush that you change to erase, rather than the eraser (the separate brush).

Have you tried resetting your Wacom settings ?
