Pen button eraser

Post by Agris »

Hey!

Wacom pens has two buttons and I've assigned one of them to work as an eraser. (works same way as using other side of the pen).
When I press the button and touch the surface - eraser works - all good here.

The problem:
I can't find how to modify this eraser, that is activated with this Pen button. Besides this pen button activated eraser I've made two eraser presets : soft and hard - I have assigned keyboard buttons for them. I'd love my soft eraser to be activated with pen button. - Is there a way to do that? At the moment, when I press the button on pen, it enables some random, really big hard eraser.

Another eraser problem is - That "preview" option fir eraser sometimes turns on, although I've turned it off. I've saved my presets with Preview OFF, however, when I restart TVP it's ON again. Reason I turn it off is because if it's on, the first touch with pen to tablet results in FULL pressure eraser blob. When turned off, works as expected.

I'm on Mac OS Catalina , TVP Standard 11.5

Thanks :)

Yes, you're right : with the current version of TVPaint there's only one eraser.

With the version 11.5.1 to come (soon) this may be possible, but I'd need to check that.

Could you please tell us a bit more about your setup ? which tablet/pen is it ?

Hey, thanks. That's a welcome update :)

I'm using a Wacom Cintiq Pro 24 with a Pro pen 2. (but it's the same with other wacom tablets I guess)

Right now I'm trying to figure out how to configure two different erasers. How did you achieve that ?

By creating a Custom panel, then I just grab the tool! :)
After that I map keyboard shortcuts to each of them.

For the moment, when you change your pen to the eraser (either by flipping it and using the other tip or by clicking a button that activates the eraser) the selected tool changes in TVPaint.

When the eraser is activated, you can configure the eraser tool with the settings you want, these settings will be remembered.

yess, thanks. It works!
Only thing it doesn't remember is "Preview" switch to be off. But I can live with that :D

I bet you use the mouse to turn off the checkbox !
As the tool settings are saved per device, try turning it off using your pen.
