connection setting for brush color

i'd like to make sure this request is on the list. ( as it is very old, 2007!)

checking out this blender tutorial made me think of it again:

it just would be nice to have a connection setting for the color value.
so the color per stroke (or continually) could be determined from a gradient... for instance by either a -direction -pressure or -random connection
its probably hard to implement currently though.

Oh yea I would love to see this too. Heavypaint has this feature and I really love it.
