Software you use

Post by VGmaster9 »

What are some different software that you use to compliment TVPaint as your de facto animation program?

I use a lot of Adobe After Effects, mostly for camera moves, recoloring and post effect stuff, like glow, particles etc.
Sometimes also Blender, but mostly for quick and dirty reference stuff.

After effect for everything from cameras to compositing :) Premiere sometimes for editing. Photoshop for concepts with color, otherwise tvpaint for design/storyboard/anim.

I use FinalCut for editing 4k Video from a DJI Phantom 4.
JeNu Ultrasonic Infuser is perfect for cosmetic procedures. After reading the jenu infuser review, you may try to use the device with no hesitation. Its real effectiveness is a fact.

I use AceMovi video editor and Adobe Premier, the former is simple and easy-to-use which is suitable for everyone, I always use it to edit simple videos, cause it takes a quick time to edit simple video. The latter is more professional which is suitable for experienced people, it can edit complicated and special effect video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAGopK3_Vik&t=17s

I am very happy with DaVInci Resolve editing software from Black Magic design. It is a pro level product that is free.
The only flaw I've found with it is that it does not support 4K resolution. Not yet, anyway.
I use it to cut animatics together.

I rarely go outside of TVPaint in my work but I lean strongly on the power of scripting with George to streamline and extend existing procedures and invent new Tools that compliment/enhance the sophisticated image-making and image-sequencing environment that TVPaint provides.

On my Mac I use TVpaint, Final Cut, Motion, and the Affinity suite.

On my galaxy Tab, Tvpaint, Artflow, RoughAnimator When I need to do something quick and export on it.

On my iPad I use Callipeg and you can now export TVpaint compatible files. And I do a lot of backgrounds in Procreate. And most my vector files I'll do in Affinity designer.

TVPaint only. Forced myself to learn the compositing side of it so don't use any adobe stuff now. Final Cut to put all the frames in with the soundtrack and do the leaders and stuff.

I use a lot of different programs at my job and for personal work. This list is incomplete but it represents the programs I use most routinely...

Workplace
- Adobe Animate and TB Harmony for FBF animation (TVPaint is used elsewhere at my workplace, just not in our dept.)
- Moho Pro for rigged puppet animation
- After Effects and Nuke for compositing and effects
- LightWave and Maya for 3D
- Photoshop and Illustrator for static artwork
- Premiere for video editing
- Audition for sound

Personal
- TVPaint and Animate for FBF animation on Windows, Callipeg on iPad
- Moho Pro for rigged puppet animation
- After Effects and Fusion for compositing and effects
- LightWave and Blender for 3D
- Photoshop, Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate and Krita for static artwork
- Vegas Pro for video editing
- Audition, iZotope RX9, and Vegas Pro for sound

I also rely heavily on Google Sheets for shot notes and asset tracking, both for personal and work.

The tools I use for my personal work is my preference but it's good to be familiar with everything out there. (In my job, I have to be.) 😸

Mostly I like to keep it simple, but DaVinci Resolve for cutting together short clips is really excellent software considering it is free, and Photoshop and the other Adobe apps pay their way too for general work that needs exacting color control.
