did you use rotosplining for the first part?

Hey....no roto-anything! The freehand fill tool is used for the first part (not me--it's my classmate). I used mostly the polygon fill tool (from ~00:34 to 1:04).

Sean,

Thanks for your interest. I did "Snowmotion" entirely with TVPaint--editing and everything. I made a custom brush and used it for probably 90% of the animation (over a black background). Some of the frames were drawn fresh, and others were modified from holds (which was preferable since it's less work, but sometimes it didn't look right because the image would begin to "erode"). I had storyboards, but the animation was improvised. I only thought about keeping the screen direction flowing seamlessly. I also wrote and performed the music.
As I'm from the northeast USA, but living in Los Angeles now, I miss the snow a lot! Good thing I'm moving to NYC soon.

Good work ! I liked that very much. I think you showed off your animation skills and what TVPaint can do very well.
