I had to use Toon boom Storyboard pro recently for a job and I have to say that while initially it is a little confusing, the workflow improvement compared to TV Paint's storyboard feature is night and day.
Being able to quickly change camera movements between scenes and the flexibility of having layers accessible in while controlling the entire timeline makes using TV Paint's storyboarding feature feel so archaic..
It may be an odd thing to suggest, but I really recommend (if not already) for the Team to look at how storyboard pro operates. Or at least consult someone who professionally does work with the program to see how each feature integrates into a workflow.
My initial post here is a little light on details because I'd really like to have this discussion with community members as well as the developers.

Re: Storyboarding workflow improvements
I have to respectfully disagree with this view, I feel TVPaint is light years beyond Storyboard Pro.I have been working with Storyboard Pro for the last year and half, it is the bane of my existence!
Everybody works differently, so for me Storyboard Pro relies too much on copying and pasting. Making revisions to multiple panels is a nightmare. Layer movement over multiple panels is so unintuitive. Light table options are harder to use in SBPro. It all feels very clunky. I much prefer TVPaint, it has the option to work panel by panel like SBPro or working with multiple panels in a single timeline and boarding on a scene by scene basis. TVPaint is flexible to many ways of working which is its huge strength.
Not seeing layers while adjusting timeline I get this may be an Issue for some artists but it limits you to basically a panel by panel approach. I don’t mind drawing my panels first and worrying about timing at the end. Then again this suits the way I like to work.
Perhaps there is a solution, multiple timeline views? Definitely the flexibility to accommodate various ways of working is key.
I would like love to see some better tools for batch renaming clips and tracking changes like SBPro has though.

Re: Storyboarding workflow improvements
Hello, improving the Storyboard view is one of our objectives during v12's lifetime. Some ideas are from our v11 backlog, others were suggested by artists. I can't give you an ETA yet but I confirm that we are not forgetting about improving TVP's storyboard capabilities.
Probably a vampire
Re: Storyboarding workflow improvements
Indeed, SBP does have some really dumb limitations, There is a way to instance drawings between panels but the impact on workflow makes it a process nobody uses in the end. However I think being able to view what SBP does right is still worth considering, again to parrot my initial postPadruig wrote: ↑07 Feb 2025, 20:07 Everybody works differently, so for me Storyboard Pro relies too much on copying and pasting. being able to easily modify camera moves in the timeline view, the ability to keyframe layers in realtime etcetc. is something that I think people expect to be able to do in 2025.
Glad to hear there is some plan to improve SB view.Dean wrote: ↑10 Feb 2025, 13:32 Hello, improving the Storyboard view is one of our objectives during v12's lifetime. I'm curious as to what you guys want to address, is this something you can answer at this time Dean?
