TVP doesn't open anymore because of tvp 9

I just tried tvp 9 and i find the improvements impressive.
However, when i wanted to start my trusted tvp 8.5 it gave me the tvp 9 startup screen , then asked me for my unlock code, and then jumped to the 8.5.
So i uninstalled 9, because it was clearly interfering with my older version (i installed in seperate folders!). I used the uninstall.exe.
Now tvp does not open anymore.
"Can't find tvpaint.loc" .
Please help , because i need to be able to work today!!

i just tried to reinstall tvp 8510 (with repair).
Problem isn't solved. aaargh!
Any suggestions?

Hi A1,
This problem appears when you update your version using the "Repair" option. This option is only useful when some file are missing so it has not update your version. Since there were some big modification into the installation folder in order to prepare the releasing of TVP Animation 9, you need to one of the latest version of TVP Animation 8 installed.

So to fix your problem, you only have to re-installed TVP Animation 8 using this way:
- Uninstalled it (don't use the "repair" option but the "uninstall" one)
- Installed it

TVP Animation 9 and TVP Animation 8 can be use in the same time since there are two different softwares. Be sure to have TVP Animation 8 updated (8.6.1 is the latest version). If not you can update your TVP Animation 8 on this page.

Since we are regularly updating our software for better performance we advise everybody to update. That's why all updates are free for commercial licenses. As I said before one of the update as prepare TVP Animation 8 to work in parallel with TVP Animation 9. This update is the 8.5.8 one. So TVP Animation 8 will continue to work fine after installing the trial of TVP Animation 9 until the 8.5.8 version.

To be sure to avoid all known problems and can benefit of the technical support you need to have the latest version of our software.

Ok,
When i installed the 9 version, v8.5.10 was on my computer.
TVP 9 worked fine but when starting 8.5.10 the startupscreen of v9 popped up. V8.5.10 loaded and asked for my lock code--> weird!
After uninstalling v9 , v8.5.10 did not start up anymore---> weirder!

so to be clear :

i tried to repair AFTER tvp 8.5.10 did not want to start up anymore.

So If 8.5.8 was the version that should have v9 work parallell to v8, and i have this happening with version 8.5.10
there is no guarantee that v8.6.1 will not give the same problem.

To be sure to avoid all known problems and can benefit of the technical support you need to have the latest version of our software.

I'm not trying to be all anal about this, but it just seems likely to me that the problem is not my softwareversion.

It was the softwareversion!!
I updated to 8.6.1 and all is solved.

I guess updating just makes me jumpy. Sorry for all the hassle.

Glad to see it works

I maybe can add some informations for all users.

With the TVP 8, always update the software when it is possible ( TVP 8.6.1 ).
The update is available at this page.
(You won't lose data when you update a previous version and it's free)

And with the new TVP 9 software, never install it into the same directory of a TVP 8 version.
(After I have done many tests, it seems that it was the problem of A1.
An installation of TVP 9 into the same directory of a previous version of TVP 8 gives the same result than A1)

No, just think of the two as entirely separate programs -- you can have both opened at the same time if you want.

If you install V9 where it wants to go, it'll create its own folder inside of TVPaint Development but not inside of TVP 8 -- you'll end up with two separate folders inside of TVP Development.

It is absolutely that

Just a quick note:
The first time i installed (with the problems) was where tvp 9 directed me.
A folder inside tvpaint but different then tvp 8. I'm very sure of this because i noticed it uninstalling v9.
So i doubt that was my actual problem.

But i'm not going to get further into this because now all seems to work fine...
