weird playback on DTV 1080

Post by doney »

Hi,

I'm animating by 12 fps and then duplicate the frames to 25. This never caused a problem until I started working on a DTV 1080 setting (25fps).
When I'm duplicating and the test the animation, I get a broken playback...not smooth at all. Only when i export to a file, I am able to see the result.
I tried all 3 ways of render but none produced smooth result.

I know this problem can appear when modifying project in the MIDDLE of work flow - like changing from 1:1 ratio to 4:3 , but not regarding change of fps.

I have a pentium 1.6ghz, win XP, 3 gb ram and using tvpaint 8.5.4.

Thanks in advance.

This is exactly how I work except I go to 24fps. When you say
When I'm duplicating and the test the animation
what exactly do you do? Do you double the frames and play it back in TVP? Or do you double the frames when you render out to an avi or QT file (the better way)?

double the frames and play it in TVP. It was always ok that way...
Now I have to watch using the 2nd way - after export.

Doubling the project in TVP doubles the load on your computer. It all depends on how much CPU you have available. I double in TVP only when I have to create a dissolve between two layers etc and I have a pretty powerful computer. I avoid doing even that if I can create a dissolve later in my NLE. But you can run into uneven playback even after rendering to an avi or QT when rendering 1080p for the same reason TVP won't play well. What I do is to render my clips as 720p into one folder and again as 1080 into another folder. Then after completing the project in my NLE (Vegas Pro in my case) I block the 720 folder by changing it's name slightly and point Vegas to the 1080 folder when Vegas looks for them upon opening. After that all depends on what your final destination is; filmout, or TV station or BluRay disk etc. so I won't go any further with this, but needless to say, if TVP can't playback well, most likely nothing else will either, unless you make the project size smaller.

Ok, got that.
i changed it to 720 it it runs smoothly!

As my goal is TV / DVD it is not VERY crucial, I just needed more work space and resolution than pal 16:9.

thanks for the fast replies!

We don't support this old version, because there is a free update of TVP Animation 8.6.1. First up to date your TVP Animation please.
