edit multiple frames?

Post by madteo »

hi again, I'm looking for a function similar to flashes "edit multiple frames" in which you can move or change multiple drawings for a sequence.

for example if I had five drawings of this X and I wanted to move its starting position, and all other frames after it to the other side of the screen, how would I do this?

Or, If i wanted to erase one part of an image sequence in every image of the sequence how would I do that?

thanks very much!

hello Madteo, and welcome !

Several ways to do this, ... something like repeating the last action on a range of frames,
in your example, to erase an area of a sequence, if this area is the same (still) all along the sequence :
a - freehand-select the part you want to erase
b - click the "Kill" (skull & bones) button,
c - Undo (hit the shortkey),
d - select the range of frames you want to affect,
e - Redo ((hit the [Enter] shortkey).
you can replace a + b by painting over the area (to be erased) with a painting brush in "Erase" mode,
but you will have to do this in one single stroke, so the technic described above (in 5 points) is probably
the more comfortable when it goes to erase (to mark the boundaries of) a "supersubtle" part of a drawing.

thanks so much for the response! I'm wondering how I would do the same (edit multiple frames) with adding parts of a drawing to a sequence.

for example, in a storyboard I have a mouth that doesnt move over three frames, and I want to draw the mouth for all three frames on only one frame, and have it copy itself for the remainder of the sequence. How would I do this?

Also, is there a way to copy part of a layer and paste it into another layer without copying the whole frame?

once again, thankyou so much!

the best way is to separate the mouth in its own layer over the animlayer, and drag the end handle the nb of frames you want.

a - freehand-Select the part you want to copy,
b - "Copy Selection to Brush"
c - go to any frame or any layer you want,
d - "Paste in Place".
or, alternatively, replace b + c + d by "Copy Selection to New Layer",
then, move and/or drag the new layer's handle(s) on the timeline to fit your wish.

another multiple frames question!

lets say I need to add say ~5 blank frames in front of a sequence. However, I have multiple layers in the composition, and I want the images in each layer to stay in sequence (each layer relates to the other, and I want to add frames in front of all of the layers while keeping the layers in order.)

How would I do this?

another example: I have two layers, one with a head, one with a body. The body layer starts after the head layer, and if I add frames in front of the head layer the body starts too early. I want to add blank frames before the entire composition, keeping the head and body layers on the same timing. any ideas?

thanks very much!

Select multiple layers, then grab one of them and shift. The others will follow. You also can extend the exposure of one frame and the same frame in the other layers will be extended as well. (Your timeline zoom must be at a level where the exposure handles are visible.)

once a custombrush copied (or cut),
you should find the command at the bottom of the Tool panel, just above the last [Reset] button .

ho, and to add empty frame(s) before a range of layers, you can go to the menu Clip/Insert Images Before Current,
(or shortkey : Shift I + Enter), if needed, lock (previously) the layer(s) you don't want to be affected.
