TVP Import Dialogue Box On a Mac

Post by hilary »

Hi -
I have just installed TVP 9 Pro on my MAC and used it all day yesterday with no problems - but today when I try and import footage I keep getting the MAC system file browser window and not the TVP one - if I choose my file (in his case an audio only QT) and then click LOAD nothing happens...I rebooted a couple of times but it still keeps happening - did I change something by accident in preferences? Normally the MAC dialogue box has the option to OPEN but mine is saying LOAD now? Which is making me think its a set up preference issue. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Hilary

I'm not familiar with the MAC version, but in the PC this is selected as a preference under Edit>Preferences>Interface/File requester/TVP Animation Pro.

"Load" is OK, so it's no matter of preferences. But of course it should work.

Did you try other kinds of sound file? I'd recommend AIF or WAV - sound within a Quicktime file can be using a codec TVP doesn''t understand.
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
TVP 11.7 Mac Mini M2pro 32GB OS 13.5

That is a little quirk of TVP ... from the File Menu it says OPEN , but when the file browser appears it says LOAD .

LOAD = same as OPEN .

Thanks for the info everyone - Paul my preferences were on SYSTEM instead of TV Paint so I changed that and was able to import footage again. The audio file I mentioned still wouldn't import though. Does anyone know if there are certain QT codecs that are incompatible with TVP?

Do you import your sound file from "File => open" or from the "sound space" in the timeline ?

You must load a sound (mp3 or wav) here :

Its actually a QT file that was rendered with audio only. But I will re-render it and see if it works bringing it in as a WAV. Thanks Elodie!

Ok so once I re- rendered the original QT to a WAV file and then loaded it through the time line at the top as instructed it worked. But I tried bringing the WAV in first through the 'import footage' and it didn't work. So does all sound need to go through the 'load soundtrack'?
Thanks,
Hilary

"Import footage" is for images and videos only :)
