Hey Animators! We just launched Motion Contest (http://www.motioncontest.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and we already have 6 animation contests up and running and more coming soon. The biggest prize is currently $1200. The "Big Launch Date" is March 1st, but come sign up before it gets too crowded. Come submit your demo reels to the "5 min Task" contests and win cash prizes for your previous work.
Our goal is to give animators credibility by providing real world contests, and wide industry exposure. We are going further than just cash prizes however, we are actively seeking deals with big film studios like Miramax, Dream Works, Warner Bros and Touchstone Pictures to help our winning contestants land their dream jobs at established animation studios, or gain fame as world renowned animators.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Hey, this seems to be a nice try to get a bunch of animations to use one of them for very low cost.
The 3D example:
- maybe 25 artist give their demo-reels to you
- you choose one of them for your future commercials
- the choosen artist get ...... wow! ..... 25$.
- 24 artists get nothing.
You made me laugh , but I would say, please delete this forum from your "idiots-list"

No, you're confused : your goal is to give us lots of money for our labor and regular residual checks for our original content. (I already have credibility; I can't pay for art supplies , software , or pay the rent with the kind of "exposure" you're offering. Actually anyone who takes the bait for that kind of "industry exposure" has just sacrificed their credibility in the industry because they have essentially painted the words : "I am a sucker , please exploit me" on their forehead. )

Carrots anyone?
Contests and crowdsourcing = devaluation of our work.
This user won't come back anyway....

Wow, that's a shame! It is starting to seem like Japan is one of the only places where talented independent animators can actually be rewarded for their creativity and labors. IS this really the case? Are those with the skill to move images going to be stuck doing commercials with too low a budget and too short a production schedule, while their own original works languish?Paul Fierlinger wrote:ZigOtto wrote:and future Film Producer material...sounds like the one I had for Drawn From Memory. Somewhere there has to be an outlet. A place where these works can be seen and generate a return for the creators. I don't necessarily mean TV, with all its limitations and ratings systems. I don't know how DVD is fairing in the US. It is certainly impossible here in China. In Japan though, some indie artists are more than making a living in DVD and digital download worlds. IS this happening anywhere else? Are there people doing well on iTunes? (I read that BIll Plympton said he does well on iTunes)
Could animation find a home in the app store for iPhone, iPad and Macs?
