Animate while timeline is running?

Post by melaphant3 »

Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible to animate while the timeline is running and how do do it.
It's basically so I can make some growing ribbony things.

Hello,

Nope, you cannot, but you can use the Flip option, by pressing W =)

but for growy ribbony things you might consider using either the stroke recorder or the drawing recorder

To establish the movement and timing, you can use the "Ctrl"-drawing.

First extend your layer to required length, selecting "Add Empty Images" in the window that appears.
It works best when you have only single-image instances in your layer.
Then draw your movement while holding down the "Ctrl" key.

Ooh thanks a heap guys . That ctrl thing works great, I've noticed it works better with some brushes than others.
Where can I find the stroke recorder or the drawing recorder? Can't see them in fx.

To find the drawing recorder go in the menu "Windows > Drawing Recorder Panel"

the stroke recorder, is actually called pathrecorder(sorry) and its an FX stack tool it can be found in a number of FX's like the keyframer. under tools.
it can be used to generate position keys that represent the path you drew while it was active.

but even better, there is also an FX especially for what you want, its called: AutoPaint (find it in the stack under Paint)

That ctrl thing works great, I've noticed it works better with some brushes than others.
Depending if you are using a classic painting tool or a brush tool, you have to use the "freehand stroke" button or the "freehand dotted line" button of the main panel.
