Asus ep 121 Tablet PC

I've been looking for a Tablet PC to replace my Modbook (which had a big problem with the cursor jumping and is now encased in LEGO) and this one looks inexpensive and adequate for my needs. I have a couple questions, though:

As I understand it, the EP 121 only has 128 levels of pressure sensitivity. Has that been a problem for you? Do you think you could post a video detailing variable width pens and brushes in TVPaint?

Do you know if the RAM is user serviceable?

Have you had any hiccups using TVPaint? I believe the tablet runs at 1.33GHz, so has it caused any slowdowns?

It's obviously Wacom Penabled, so I take it the pen is the standard Tablet PC model. Have you tried the felt nib? How slick do you find the screen?

It's great to see someone using TVPaint on one of these. I considered buying one a month ago, but I didn't want to take the gamble. If you could answer my questions it would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

After a bit more research, I've discovered it has 256 pressure sensitivity levels. I'm even more excited to try one of these now.

See attached file. It's a crappy render from Cam Studio but hopefully u get the picture. I'm not bothered by the 256 levels of pressure so far.

I've seen someone mod their tablet to reach 8 gigs but as a normal memory replacement goes, no you can't.

no slow downs so far. The only programs I've noticed slow downs is in Zbrush using Zsketch.

I have not tried the other nibs yet. The screen is wonderful and super easy to draw on. It feels like an Intuos4 when u use the black/felt nib.

Also, not to be rude, but you will face a lot of pressure on these boards to upgrade to TVP 9.5 as the version you're using is a known pirated edition and you get the point.

yeah sorry about that. I took care of it and downloaded the demo of 9.5 until I can purchase a copy. Until a week ago I was an unflinching fan of PAP and PAP alone, but my sites have quickly been turned to TvPaint.

Thanks for your video demo/review of the Asus EP 121. This is very useful information to have . I hope you'll keep reporting back with how it's going as you work with TVPaint more on your Asus tablet.

PAP was a bit of an enigma to me , because I only had the Mac beta version which never really worked very well (very buggy) . From what I can see the Windows version was solid , but of course no further development of the app is planned.

I've been very happy with TVPaint and I predict you will be , too. Welcome to the TVPaint community.

thanks. As a quick and free method for keying ideas before jumping into Maya, I love PAP. But I also want to start creating short traditional animations and TVPaint seems the way to go with all of it's functionality.

I also have the ASUS EP121 and am looking to trying TVPaint to it. I love it for sketching or storyboards, I even edit some HD video with it, it is quite powerful.

THIS machine beats the Ep121. The Asus Ep121 has the weaker ultra mobile version of the core i3/5, the Samsung doesn't.

Hey everyone,

I've used the Asus 121 with TVP for the past few months and it's great! The only complaint I have is that the stylus doesn't have any buttons on it and the tablet doesn't have any programmable buttons. Also, the dongle sticking out of the tablet can be a bit nerve racking at times. Other than that though, it's been awesome. TVP is designed to be used well with a tablet device. It's very responsive even with high resolution images and with big brush sizes.

It's like having a digital sketchbook. It's one of the best purchases I ever made. Both TVP and the ASUS slate EP 121. That being said, I've recently heard about the Samsung tablet which I'm pretty curious about too. Does anyone know if it's quad core or dual like the ASUS?
