The main strength is that you would be able to draw anywhere on anything, so you would be able to do a napkin master pieces and transfer to your computer.

You can not erase and there is only one color which is a down side for me.

To sketch on a napkin implies a spur of the moment and most improbable setting to quickly jot down a fleeting idea. Would you carry this device with you anywhere you go just so that you could whip it out , open and assemble the pieces, making sure that the reader is strategically and correctly positioned, on top of the bar if that's where you find your fleeting idea?

I still find it a bit hokey, particularly since Wacom has already established a dubious track record of introducing useless devices such as the airbrush stylus or the ballpoint pen nib that allowed you to place a sheet of paper over the tablet and have your drawing on paper and on screen at the same time. I was so young when I fell for both of those (about 65). It couldn't happen to me anymore since I've wizened up to Wacom's ways.

On the same note: I heard just yesterday that Wacom is ready to come out with an Intuos 5 -- does anyone know more about this?

I thought it might have comes handy in correlation with TVP (?!)
… you might be able to test a "rough-anim" without scanning… and with a (genuine)"paper-drawned" style

of course, concerning cleaning (maybe not needed) and coloring… it's useless…

well ! maybe is it too early to make a definitive opinion… I must say that I was'nt aware of this invention… and it looks very interesting to me
… maybe a new way to deal with "pixel drawing"… who knows

Intuos 5??? I am still using Intuos 3!

Many places are still on Intuos 3. I've been to a lot of schools over the summer and even earlier and they just can't afford to switch hardware just because a newer model is available. If you are not a heavy tablet user then there would be little difference for you to notice between 3 and 4.

Using a 9x12 tablet exclusively for art these days... but it works fine for what I am doing.

I have by now forgotten the sensitivity differences between the two tablets, and I'm pretty sure the 4 has more points, but what I really enjoy immensely about the 4 are the buttons and touch ring, which are very useful. Sandra is still on 3 because she paints, which is an entirely different way of using the tablet than drawing, and she just ignores the buttons, and that is because they are conceptually way behind in the design and usefulness of the 4.

Looks 3 has 1024 levels while the 4 has 2048... oh well, I'll stick with the 3 for now, it's working fine for me

I'm actually in touch with Wacom about it.
Since TVPaint can read the .psd files, it won't probably be too difficult to import the files into TVPaint Animation.

By the way, Wacom Cintiq 24HD (equivalent to intuos4) is coming a little early than Inkling.
