Is my Windows XP laptop ready for TV paint 9.5 Pro?

Post by iwanttouseTVpaint »

Hi everyone - my first time on this forum :)

My question is I don't know if my Windows XP HP pavilion dv8040ca laptop (I bought back in 2006) will be able to handle TV paint 9.5 Professional, and have it run smoothly. I checked out what the minimum requirements are needed for Windows XP to run TV Paint 9.5 on TV paint's website, and it said: "- Windows XP (compatible with Vista & Windows 7) - Pentium IV 2.5 Ghz, - 1024 MB RAM, - 10 GB of free hard drive space". I compared the specs I also got from HP's website for my laptop's model: "- Microprocessor: 2.2GHz Mobile AMD Turion 64 Processor ML-40 with PowerNow! Technology, - Memory: 1024 MB 333 MHz DDR System Memory (2 Dimm) - Memory Max: 2048 MB - Video Graphics: ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 M IGP, - Video Memory: 128 MB DDR (dedicated) and the Harddrive space is 200 GB.

I don't know much about the language of computers, so if anyone can help me see if my laptop is good enough to run TV Paint 9.5 Pro smoothly, please advise!

Thank you very much!!

The best way to know for sure is to download a trial version and see for yourself how it works for the type of projects you want to create.

with common (reasonable) project's size, your laptop is perfectly able to run tvpa smoothly,
with bigger projects, you probably will have to render the preview at half-quality to get fluent playback,
if you have the opportunity, add 1024Mb of fast Ram to get the max allowed.

I am using Gateway NX860XL notebook, Intel CoreDuo CPU @2.16GHz, 4gb RAM, nVidia GeForce Go 7900GS graphics card w/256MB ram. I just upgraded
80Gb HDD to a 500Gig HDD. I also have M-Audio Firewire 1814 external audio controller. Thermaltake dual drive bay for external HDD storage, hot swappable. A 500gb SATA HDD for notebook is going around $50 USD right now.... TVPaint works quite nicely!
