I think this was pretty well done, although it might only work in the context of a game, not in a movie. It's a movement only those who know that kind of game already may be able to recognize, for others, like me, it's just too fast and confusing.

As someone who grew up with beat-em-ups, I'd assess that clip as damn good. You got the Street Fighter rhythms down.
I just finished making my first video game (after doing only linear animation before) ... animation constraints for gaming are surprisingly different! One of the most important things is that it read quickly and be well-registered, because it will inevitably be translated in space with code. And the movements, which might look artificially segmented out of context, are appropriate for interactive use. You nailed it.
