opps, we forgot to add this option :)

In the PRO version only, you will be able to (un)lock a group of layers with a password.
It's very useful if you work with different studios / producers / clients and don't want them to modify something you have done in your project, while allowing them to see what you have done.

I just spotted in this picture another one of those small pleasantries; notice that the labeling of the current frame rate is written in red with an exclamation mark. This is to warn the user that this is merely a temporary setting which is not the project's true default (most likely it is 12 fps) so that the user won't forget to take this into account when exporting the clip etc. Any deviation from the default one will always appear this way.

It was my intention to show this new feature. Nothing very complex to do in terms of development, but very useful. ;)

I just received an email from Elodie and came to check what was new in TV Paint 10. Few points:

- Too bad there is still no 'TVPaint lite version' ;-)
- I am glad my "held cells indicators" suggestion still remained, I guess people are finding this useful
- I was interested to see that "Tablet PC friendly interface" but the screenshots show just as much clutter as before and only 33% of the interface usable for actual drawing

Ah I just came back from the CTN Animation Expo in Burbank L.A., too bad TV Paint wasn't here to demo TV Paint 10. It was a great event.

Cheers

I completely agree with you about CTN , OliveUK.

I did mange to borrow my son's Modbook tablet which has TVP 9.5 on it and showed it around to some friends at CTN , including one ex-Disney friend of mine who is part of yet another online animation school start-up and they want to use TVPaint as their main software (I'm going to be emailing Fabrice about that ! ) . I also showed it off to more than a few people who said "wow, the line quality is so much nicer to draw with than ToonBoom" . (ToonBoom did have a large booth there at CTN ) There was quite a bit of interest in using TVPaint for storyboarding. I hope TVPaint can be there next year. Wacom has had a very visible presence at CTN for the last two years . Maybe TVPaint can work out something with Wacom to have a few Cintiqs and some Intuos 4's running at the TVPaint booth next year ?

a deal with Asus and having TV Paint demoed on the slick EP 121 Tablet PC would certainly cause a serious buzz

And as I always answer you're when you asking for your lite version : selling "cheap" does not mean selling "a lot". We would like to live with water and love, but unfortunately, that's not possible.
We prefer to be focus on a real software than on a lite version for kids or for amusing people when they are in the bus / train / subway.
TVPaint already made lite versions in the past and the conclusion is still the same : take too much time + no enough sales = not paying.
Btw, there are enough "cheap" drawing / animation applications. No need to add a new one, lost in the mass.

What are you talking about ? Image Marker ? Instance's name ?

Well, it depends on what you want to show on your screen... Interface is totally customizable, you know. And thanks to the panel bin, you can keep all the panels you need, hidden in a little drawer and so, keep ONLY the drawing space.
Concerning the "Tablet PC friendly interface", it's about the top menu :
Before
Before
After
After
This makes a big difference on a 12" screen =)

Oliveuk, sometimes I think you forgot we are not a big company. TVPaint 10 is about to be released, it means we have many things to finish : user guides, update website etc... And at the same time, we also have to support our users, answer their questions, find solutions for network issues... At the moment, we are only 3 in the "commercial department". Not enough to go in Burbank and keep a booth and we don't have the gift of ubiquity
But well, thank you for the information, who knows what are we going to do next year ? =)

We are planning something better. Stay tuned

I like how you undermine potential customers ;-) I don't think I need to spend more time on this forum and supporting TV Paint. Good luck TV Paint for the future.

Please, convince me of the contrary. You are asking for a lite version for years and only say "it would be great", but do not tell more about. Why would it be so great ? Who are the potential customers ? Give me concrete examples =)
At the moment, our experience is talking : lite versions are not paying and, unfortunately, we are in a world where we also need money to eat, buy fuel, pay electricity etc... =/
But, as I said, we are planning something better than a cheap version...

Not sure if asking for a lite version each time you post here can be called "support", but thank you for your wishes.
Good luck for your future too =)
