This is a known problem with 9.5.3. You can upgrade for free and retrieve your file.

How should I retrieve it when I upgrade TVP to the latest version? By loading the file as usual?

That's right, by doing for yourself what you are asking us to do for you. Truthfully, I won't trust your file because I don't know you, and the upgrade will likely have the capacity to open the file. What do you have to loose? It's a free upgrade.

Your file opened up fine in TVP 10 (it was only 3 frames, I assume that's correct). Upgrade to the latest version of 9.5, you should be able to restore your file. It's a free upgrade, no reason why shouldn't.
