Suddenly no audio playback in TVP 9.5 [solved]

All of a sudden the audio playback in TVP stopped working.
When I open a scene (any scene) I can play it normally and hear the sound, but If I click anything after that, the audio doesn't play any more. And if I open another scene - it doesn't play too.
I have tried to reinstall TVPaint - didn't help.
Then I've removed the tvpaint .plist files (I only found 2, maybe I missed something, because for some reason all the settings in TVP have remained even after this) — it didn't help.
Also when I export a QuickTime movie - the audio works - it means TVP reads and exports audio, but doesn't play it on the timeline...
All other programs play audio just fine.
I think it could be related to this: I have installed an audio program called Jack and also one named Hear - Jack is an audio routing server, and Hear adds some audio options to the sound. I have removed both as I didn't use them. After this TVP doesn't play audio any more...
Please help - I'm quite desperate...

Nope, didn't touch anything there... I have only changed the sampling rate to 48000 but that was long time ago and it worked perfectly until today...

Are you sure Jack isn't still running? It can prevent other apps from using audio that don't use Jack. Not familiar with OSX audio, but I know on Linux this can happen (I use Jack for all of my audio work on Linux). I've actually contemplated writing a plugin for synching TVPaint with Jack but the SDK seems targeted for Windows and it was too much work to get it usable on Linux.

Hmmm. But I have deleted Jack from my OSX . Can it be that some files were left behind and are still affecting the audio?

Problem solved!
I have found a plugin left by the "Hear" app - it was in the Library>Audio>Plugins folder - I removed it, restarted TVP and it works! Hopefully forever
