Question about multiple operating systems?

Post by snowtrigger67 »

Hey all,
Sorry if this question has been asked already, but i was reading through some posts, and idragosani said

"One major benefit of the dongle is you only have to register once and you can move to any other machine without re-registering. I now use TVPaint on Linux and am using the same dongle I had all along"

As a prospective buyer, if i buy the standard edition, will i be able to use it on both my dual-boot windows and linux(ubuntu). I'm fed up with windows and am trying to switch to mostly linux, my only problem is the lack of solid animation software for linux. I'm kinda weary of spending so much money on a linux only software (since I'm new to Ubuntu and not a long time user) so I was planning on buying the windows software. I'm pretty set on buying the software once I have the funds, but if I was able to run on both windows and linux, that would just make my day!

Last time I checked, after entering my serial numbers, I could download TVP versions for any OS.
TVP 10.0.18 and 11.0 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
TVP 11.0 and 11.7 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
TVP 11.7 Mac Mini M2pro 32GB OS 13.5

cool, I always thought I would have to choose one operating system over the other. I've never had any operating system other than windows, so I've never had to think about it before. Thanks

That's correct, you can switch to any installation of TVPaint on any different machine. I have used the same dongle on at least 4 separate machines now, starting out with Mirage way back when on a laptop, then moving to Vista on a desktop, then to TVPaint, then to Linux and then to another Linux machine altogether.

There is one limitation, however.
For the time being, the Linux version of TVPaint only exists as Pro version.
Quicktime is DEAD. Get over it and move on !
