deadly...just curious if anyone has had the same problem.

So where are you saving these files and how? And how do you come upon an instance where your key commands are lost? Are you sure that after you enter a new command that you go to File>Save as>OK? To me it sounds as though they are not getting lost but not being saved.

Yo Paul...
Well the brush was saved to a named pallet....
and was just gone... and the keyboard commands were saved correctly and used...for a day
then I did have a crash...but all was saved correctly precrash...

I have changed the keyboard commands many times - hitting ok is not something I overlook.

thanks djsolomon

But are you saving the new command to a folder on your HD? Hitting just OK saves nothing. The command will stay in place only until the next crash (do you get those often?). When you say Palette, do you mean Tool Bar (aka Custom Panel)? When you save a new brush to a Tool Bar, do you save the TB in a folder on a HD? If so, are you saying that when you retrieve the TB the last brush is missing?

yes the the tool bar is named and saved on the hard drive
but yes, it was the last brush saved...

it is the loosing of the keyboard commands that is a pain...what else must you do to save the keyboard commands....?

if you "assign" a command and hit ok ... aint that enuf?

After you enter the new command you go to the top right corner and under File you'll find Save KeyMap which will open your browser to navigate to the folder you know you can find every time you do this.

They keyboard assignments should be saved across sessions, though, without having to explicitly save the key mappings to disk. Same for the brushes.

I just ran a quick test, modifying a key assignment and made a custom brush that I saved to a bin, without saving the project, and then closed the app. Both were there after restarting TVP 10.0.4. Wondering if your crashing problems are contributing to the issue. Maybe TVPaint is reverting to a previous configuration?

maybe this has something to do with it... I save everything but I have noticed when I reopen the program in the morning it never
opens the last version saved... ( even though I have that checked) so maybe the brushes and keyboard config is the same as the version it is saving?

just an idea....

What happens if you switch your Startup setting to 'Startup Dialog' with default configuration set rather than 'last used'?

Debra> do you now understand what to do? You have to save your custom toolbars and Key mapping on your hard drive under your own "named files" . The Key map must be saved every time you make changes. But with the toolbars if TVP crashes it will not save the last tools/brushes you made since your last opened project that closed and saved properly. To make sure not to loose them, export and save to your hard drive folder. In other words to have them on your Custom Panels requester is not enough if TVP crashes. It doesn't take much time at all.
If you still do not understand the process ..call me back and I will walk you through it.
Hang in there.

Hi thanks for exacting info Sandra ! I started re-saving tool bar when I added brushes after I talked to Paul...I guess If I have a date on a tool bar it will be easy to figure out which has the latest brushes...

many thanks to you ! and Paul...!

HUH? What is wrong with naming them? rename the toolbar on the toolbar it's self = RM - This Panel-(a requester to name pops up). that renames the toolbar for your project desktop.
To export and save on your hard drive = RM-ThisPanel-Export. There you open the file on your browser that you have made to save your Toolbars .
I have them organized and named for my scenes and directly in my project files but that it up to you if you want Basic storage or per project.

When you export and open that file on your hard drive make sure you name it exactly the same way you have named it on the original toolbar you made.
My Basic brushes, which are different types of pens- erasers- pencils that I use all the time) I have a panel I call MINE... it is always open on TVP no matter what project I am on but saved in my default files . not the project.
If I am confusing you call. Naming toolbars by dates and not "Purpose or type or scene" may be confusing.

I will start naming them with scene names... so far I have been giving brushes wih silly names... Boris 5000 ... my fave 'or just Pens &date...
the only thing I had not been doing ws exporting the panels ...that is the key...
Have to create a tool bar folder... and a keyboard shortcuts folder....

thanks again...
