Hi guys, I've been reading Paul's answers in the forum for awhile without an account to help smooth the process of learning TVPaint for my thesis animation project. However, I am at an impasse right now with my audio playback. I saw some people have had similar issues in the past and resolved them through a variety of ways, but I've tried most of them and they haven't helped me.
So here's my problem - for a long time using TVPaint I haven't had any problems with the audio playback quality, streaming, or speed, but as of a couple of days ago, I've been unable to escape this very irritating problem - I imported a new audio file for my soundtrack after deleting the old one (it has all the same bitrate sampling (44100), filetype (wav), and other settings except it is stereo instead of mono.) and suddenly 1) the sound has an 'echo' to it from a different sampling rate / pitch / tempo or something 2) responds directly to my altering the FPS in the project modifications as well as the remote and 3) does not stream when I move through the project timeline anymore. I think 3 may be due to messing with the scrub settings, and for that I was hoping somebody could give me the default parameters to put back in. Already fixed that.
Here's my information:
Using TVPaint Animation Pro 9.5.3
Windows 7
HP Pavilion dv6 notebook with Beat Audio sound, AMD A8-3500M APU with Radeon 1.5 Ghz, 6gb ram
I do not have Quicktime X installed (only version 7.7)
I have all the latest Flash updates, all the latest HP / Windows updates (not the latest Quicktime updates and don't want to unless this will somehow magically fix my problem)
I do not have Jack, Hear, or any other sound controlling apps / programs that affect settings - I use Audacity but not when TVPaint is open, and ProTools on other computers
I do not use AfterEffects and have never had it open at the same time as TVPaint, or before or after
The file itself is fine, and plays correctly in Itunes, Quicktime, VLC, anything else I open it in except TVPaint
Here's what I've tried doing:
Exporting the file with a variety of different bitrates and matching the TVPaint sound preferences
Matching the remote and project & preference framerates
Exporting the file with mono settings
Planting the audio file in new projects with various framerates, dependencies, and other adjustments
Playing with the scrub settings (obviously because now they're f***ed)
Converting the file to other types readable by TVPaint
At this point, I'm starting to panic because it seems like AfterEffects is going to my only bet - and I want to do my my whole thesis in TVPaint! I really love this program, but this audio problem is making it literally impossible to animate and sync any of my timeline stuff appropriately. I guess I could always just estimate and export clips, stretch and trim in Aftereffects and composite it - but I literally shudder at what a waste of time that would be, friends.
By the by, I guess I'll mention that I'm a senior at MICA and like I said, I'm finishing my animation thesis - it's part of a double major thesis and it's pretty important to my exhibition show. I've been working on this particular file for about five months now, hence my terror at this sudden horrible problem I've never encountered before. I only have six weeks to finish this all up and I really need to get back to animating to my sound... can anybody please give this ignorant noob a guiding hand??
Thanks to anybody reading this desperate plea, and hope you're all having a good week. - Jen

First you need to update your software ! The latest version is 9.5.21.
We made a lot of progress with audio in the latest version.
Re: The notorious audio playback issue!
yeap, v9.5.3 is an antic version (and welknown as a buggy one),
so updating should stop a big part of (if not all) your pains ...

Re: The notorious audio playback issue!
I confirm, all those bugs are fixed in the lastest 9.5.21 version.
