Cintiq Pen Buttons become inactive with Win7 and TVP
Cintiq Pen Buttons become inactive with Win7 and TVP
I'm having a terrible problem where I lose the pen button commands in TVP. My cherished, right-click is disabled shortly after re-installing the Wacom driver. It still works in Photoshop though. I'm wondering where the problem originates: Windows 7, Wacom or TVP? I've tried everything I can think of like reinstalling the Wacom driver and older drivers.

Thank you Hervé, but I never have Wintab selected. I double-checked just now but it's off. The problem must be originating somewhere else.

Hi Don,
Do you have the same behavior when wintab is checked and when wintab is unchecked ?
Also, what is your Wacom drivers version ?

Re: Cintiq Pen Buttons become inactive with Win7 and TVP
Hi Fabrice,
Yes, same behavior with/without Wintab. I tried different versions of Wacom:
6.1.6-7
6.1.7-3
6.2.0w5
6.3.0-2
I've also tried stopping the tablet properties of Win 7. I'm not sure what caused the pen buttons to stop working. My students' Cintiqs seem to work. Very peculiar. I'm not doing freelance right now and classes are over in a few weeks so I can wait for the next upgrade and see. Actually, I'll try re-installing TVP. If I'm the only one this is happening to, don't spend your time on me...I'll figure it out!

Re: Cintiq Pen Buttons become inactive with Win7 and TVP
Hi Don,
There are different behaviors depending on the settings:
-Wintab On and SubPixel On: the side button is considered as a switch to invert the tip of the stylus -> "Side Switch + put the tip on the tablet" do a right click instead a left click (so it's more easy to draw when using pressure and right click )
-Wintab On and SubPixel Off: there is less precision regarding the cursor position, but the side switch do a immediate right click
-Wintab Off or INK ( subpixel option is ignored in this case because everything is in subpixel automatically ): it uses the Microsoft Ink library ( not available on all windows version, but ok on Windows 7 ). Until now, I never understood how to detect the side switch on this crapy microsoft library ( but I can search a lot more especially for you ).

Thank you Hervé, that was the problem exactly! I never used Wintab but I see now how it affects the side switch. Thank you for doing the research! Joyeuses Pâques!
