I am running into a problem with the Light Table when inserting a new instance between other instances. The onion skin does not refresh to show the current frames PREV and NEXT frame images.
For example:
If I have Timeline Layer Instances:
A____B_____C
and I want to insert a new instance between B and C
A_____B___x___C
(My light table is set to show only 1 instance ahead, and 1 instance behind.)
I will still see A and C when my current time indicator is on X. In order to see B___x___C, I have to move the current time indicator back one frame and then forward one frame to "refresh" the screen.
I would use screen capture to demonstrate, but when my screen capture software is running... I don't have the problem!
Actually, this time it worked (recording the problem, that is!)

Re: Light Table Refresh Problem
Hello Bjgough,
Well, I have tested a 9.5.21 and did not have the mentioned problem...

I suppose that is good news in this case (that the screen capture recording works) so at least the problem can be viewed.
Well, anyway, as you know I will also report that I can not reproduce this problem using TVPaint 9.5.21 . (I'm on a Macbook Pro, Mac OS 10.7 )
*Elodie: Bjgough is a student at the school where I teach. I suggested to him that he post his problem here. Would it help for him to send in one of his TVPaint files for you to look at ? Would a corrupt file cause the Light Table not to refresh ? Or should he reinstall TVPaint ? (although I think he already tried reinstalling) .
Is there any clue provided by the fact that most of the time the Light Table will refresh properly IF the screen capture software is turned on ? Why would it work if his screen capture software is on ?
I have tried and tried to figure out why this problem is occurring with the Light Table but I'm coming up with no solutions . It is very frustrating. It doesn't happen when I use 9.5.21 on Mac OS 10.7, so I have no clue about why this would be happening.
Has anyone else reported this problem ?
Re: Light Table Refresh Problem
This is my configuration. Maybe that's why I didn't have that problem.D.T. Nethery wrote: It doesn't happen when I use 9.5.21 on Mac OS 10.7
Well, before doing that, could he try to do other tests, with other projects ?D.T. Nethery wrote:Would it help for him to send in one of his TVPaint files for you to look at ?
Bjgough, if you succeed to reproduce the bug, could you screenshot it (I would need the timeline, the drawing area and the light table configuration in that screenshot).
There was something similair in TVPaint 10 and it has been already fixed.D.T. Nethery wrote:Has anyone else reported this problem ?
Re: Light Table Refresh Problem
Hi Elodie,
The problem WAS captured on my recording above. At 26 seconds, I click on the (I don't know the name of the tool shortcut) button to create a new instance with the current exposure frame. And, instead of the A frame disappearing (I only have the light table set up to show 1 previous and 1 next frame) it remains, even though "B" should be the only "before" frame exposed.
It only happens with that button. If I delete the drawing on that exposure, a new keyframe is created and the light table updates appropriately. If I draw on the exposure, a new keyframe is created and the light table updates. It's only when using the buttons in the panel on the left (sorry, I'm on my laptop and don't have my USB key with me to open the program and be specific... but I think you can tell which button I'm talking about on the video).
I can work around it, but I thought I'd post the problem here to see if anyone else had experienced the same thing and had found a solution.
Thanks.

Re: Light Table Refresh Problem
hmmm, is the "auto-break instance" option checked ? (or not ?)
You can check this in the menu Images > Exposure > auto-break instance
It might come from that.
