fast perspective transformation
fast perspective transformation
the transformation tool in photoshop is easy and fast.
in TVpaint... not so much.
So often have I wanted to transform a cutbrush in perspective and of course, there's the Edit function which gives you another window to waste your time in where you can rotate, scale, skew and so on but not proper perspective distort and definitely not in a click-n'-drag kind of way. All this is ridiculously unintuitive.
Then there's the Perspective Distortion effect in FX stack but that only works on project size and doesn't offer the function to work only on the area with pixels in.
I could use the Wrapping Grid effect and set the grid points as close to the objects as possible and then distort into perspective, but that is honestly a long journey for something that should be available at your fingertips as a shortcut.
Maybe I'm missing something, perhaps TVpaint do have a fast and easy way of distorting a cutbrush in perspective?

Re: fast perspective transformation
TVPaint has a tool for this under the Pan/Transform/Warp Tool button (Main Panel, middle row, 2nd from the right), it can be used on a full image or a selection (see page 2-19 (59) in the manual). It doesn't operate directly on a brush, but you can certainly stamp a brush down, select it, warp it and then re-cut the transformed selection. I use this all of the time for simple perspective (like putting circles into perspective).

Re: fast perspective transformation
after years of using TVpaint... brilliant!
Thanks a lot for pointing that out to me, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Re: fast perspective transformation
I love that plug-in .
However, I should mention that it works great in TVPaint 9.5.21 , but doesn't work in my TVPaint 10.0.5 . (I'm on a Macbook, Mac OS 10.7.3) .
Has anyone else had trouble getting it to work in TVPaint 10 ?

Re: fast perspective transformation
Not working in 10.0.05 on Linux either. When I try to activate it, I get a popup telling me to turn off the Mask button in the Menu Panel... except no Mask is active on any layer!

Re: fast perspective transformation
I was about to start a new thread, but found this one, and I think I can relate my problem here.
The Warp Tool is great, but I need it to work as an FX over a number of frames in time. There is the Wrapping Grid effect, but it doesn't help, cause it only works on the whole project size. Is there any other way or plugin?

Re: fast perspective transformation
The FX Distortion > Perspective 4 points wouldn't do the job ?
Re: fast perspective transformation
Oops - I have the Standard version so I cannot use it. But as I understood, it only lets you change the whole project size, but not the exact existing pixels... or does it work the same way as the Warp tool?Elodie wrote:The FX Distortion > Perspective 4 points wouldn't do the job ?

Re: fast perspective transformation
It works exactly like the Warp tool, except you can add keys and make it change in the time.
