Corrupted file, any chance to save it?
Corrupted file, any chance to save it?
The file was created with TV Paint 9.5.3. Every time I open the file it either open a blank frame or get frozen. I also tried opening it with TV Paint 10 and same thing happened.
The file size is the same as previous versions so I believe the data still exist. Is there any way to salvage it?
There are couple of layers in the file, even saving only the animation layer would be enough.
Links to the file:
http://www.2shared.com/file/OfAFcTAq/Co ... Shot1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(funny, It was 80 mega and then became 134kb after I zipped it)
It's rather urgent so I hope there is something to do before giving up and starting all over...
Thanks for the help!

Immediately update your TVP; you have a very buggy version and the update is free. As soon as you download the update your project will be salvaged.

Re: Corrupted file, any chance to save it?
yeh... I know. the thing is, it wasn't on my computer. I tried opening with version 10 and it still didn't work.
I'm starting to lose hope since the zipped file weight only 100kb while the previous version zip was 20mb. The unzip files of both is 80mb.
I think the corrupted one is just full with 0's and that's why it zipped so well...
is there a chance that other 9.something version would be able to open it?
Anyways... Thanks for the help =]

Yes. I think it is 9.5.21. TVP 10 is a different animal; not a free upgrade. Go for the latest 9.5 which is free.Erayo wrote: is there a chance that other 9.something version would be able to open it?

It is as Paul mentions above: You need to update the software from the buggy 9.5.3 version. Go to the Help Menu --- Check for Updates and you will be taken to a page to download the most recent version of 9.5. Simply enter your Unlock Code and you can update . That should solve your problem. Please post back to let us know how that turns out for you.Erayo wrote:The file was created with TV Paint 9.5.3.

Re: Corrupted file, any chance to save it?
The 9.53 version isn't on the computer I'm working on now so I can't upgrade.
meanwhile I tried to open the file in notepad and compare it with a working one. It is mostly filled with empty spaces so I guess it's lost.
Feel welcome if you want to check the file but we're already doing it again.
Thanks =]

Re: Corrupted file, any chance to save it?
I checked it out in the latest version of TVP 10, it just locked up the application and I had to kill the process via the OS to close it down. An 80 meg file should load fairly quickly, so there is something definitely broken in it.

Do you know what was done with the file that got it into the bad state? App was closed in the middle of saving or a disk error or something?

Same thing happened to me and I'm running version 10.
I saved, closed the software too so I have no idea how this happened!

Re: Corrupted file, any chance to save it?
Try opening TVP with a new configuration first. If you had it set to open with last project you can bypass this command by holding down control and double clicking on the TVP icon -- wait a couple of seconds and the startup panel will open. Then open a new config by clicking on NEW. After that opens, usinging OPEN, browse to your bad file and see if it will open -- I'm not saying it will work, but sometimes this can do the trick so it's worth trying.
And here's another thing you should do BEFORE you do the above. Navigate to your TVP TEMP file, which is on the drive where you created it, or on the C drive if you had never done that. Most likely there will be a file inside, or several even. Delete those. Then proceed with the above.
EDIT: Did you set the number of backup files to automatic? If so, open one of those. If not -- do it for your next project -- set the number to at least 10.
