hello,
i want to buy tvp10 professional edition, but i have questions that need to be answered, befor i am very sure. I am an student in germany and i want to buy the student version. But is it possible to use the programm for commercial use??
are there difference between the professional version for artists(non students)?? or is it only the price and maybe the commercial use. Becaus this version has the numer [Ref: TVPAP100] and the version for students has the number: [Ref: TVPAP100E1]. what does that mean?

Hello flux,
welcome on the forum !
To answer to your question, yes, you can use the software bought as a student for commercial use as free lancer. However, if you will work in a studio after graduate, you have to use studio licenses and not yours.
The Professional version of the software is the same, it's only the price which change for the students.

1. You only need internet to download the software. After that you can install and work without.
2. I've sucessfully worked with a 10 GB file on my old machine with only 1.5 GB RAM, and it worked. Only opening/saving took much longer. In my experience TVP rarely has crashed.

and this question: 1.the new tvpaint version has 64bit. that means, that the programm will be faster, when i save the program?
2.how long would it take, to save an 3 and 5 gb project? i have 12 gb ram, 64 bit. because to be sure, im saving always every 5,10 minutes, and i dont want to wait too long.
3.if i buy the programm, they will send me a dvd, is it right. that's the usual way. because you have say, i have to download the programm from the internet. on the website is writte: You should get your box (DVD+Dongle) in 2 to 4 working days. that mean a cd with an usb?

Re: buy
Sorry, my mistake - I'm so used to just download the updates. Yes, you'll get a parcel with the dongle and everything.
2. Try to avoid big files like that. Saving time only depends on the speed of your harddrive (and the system bus), so TVP can't change that. For a 5 GB project I'd estimate 5 minutes to open or save (on my old machine, haven't tested on my new one).

Re: buy
64 bit makes some functions such as loading, saving and proxy rendering about 20% faster. What I see as the great drawback (and this goes for all software) 64 bits won't accept plugins until they are retooled specifically for 64bits and very, very few authors of plugins care to put themselves through this learning curve. It does therefore handle large formats 20% better than 32bits, but I'm with slowtiger on this one: avoid large formats in general because they tend to be a memory hog in all software. It isn't always possible to avoid large formats when it comes to camera moves and you just have to evaluate the payoff -- whether the effect of the camera move is worth the slowdown of your work pace.
Most of the time I draw in 32 and Sandra, my wife, who deals with anything related to color more often reverts to 64 bits because some of her projects are made with an extraordinary amount of layers. Otherwise, she too sticks to 32 bits most of the time.
EDIT: There are other, very valid reasons to go for 64 bits. TVP pro 10 has a lot of new features available that are missing on the less expensive versions. In mye view, everything in this category is certainly worth the extra cost.

Re: buy
This I can't answer since it is beyond my experience. About a year ago I dropped XP for 7 and am still enamored by the improvement.

Re: buy
Yes, this is one major benefit of using the USB dongle, you can install on as many computers you need, you just use the authorized dongle in whatever machine you are using (only one at a time, of course).

Re: buy
You can even go further; if you are spending a few days at another location without your own computer, you can download the trial version into the friend's computer and turn it into a fully functioning TVP app with your dongle. I once took advantage of this when visiting the office of a client halfway across the country. He wanted a last minute change from me and I could do it right in his art department because I had my dongle with me. One caveat here: protect the dongle from loss or theft as you would an expensive watch. If you loose it, you will have essentially lost the entire purchase of your TVP app.

Yes, and vice versa; they are all interchangeable.
