Program crashes when loading sound
I have TVP Animation 10.0.2, when I try to load sound (.wav file) the program freezes immediately after the progress bar, says: "TVPaint has stopped working" and crashes "Close program". Tried different audio files, reinstalling program, restarting computer, praying... same result every time. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
Firstly you should upgrade. I think we are at 10.0.07 now; I vaguely recall that there were some issues with sound in the early versions of TVP 10.

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
Thank you for your reply Paul.
I upgraded to the current version, however, the problem persists...
When I browse a sound file to upload, it seems as if TVP does not recognize wav format, it shows a question mark icon as a file type.
If I select it - progress bar and then crash. There is nothing wrong with the audio files, I tried a few that open in any other software.

Mac or PC? Look at these threads:

PC Windows 7.
I went through these threads (thanks Paul) only one case looked similar (was on Mac though) but I tried to solve it the same way he did (loading sound from timeline rather than menu) and still got the same TVP crash.

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
This is very odd because no one else has complained about this or confirmed having the same issue. Have you experimented with different sources of sound tracks? Have you tried opening a new configuration?

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
32-bit or 64-bit? Also, what are the WAV files encoded for (sampling, bit rate, etc)?

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
32 bit.
I tried to load wavs from different sources (mixed in WavePad Sound Editor or received from composers who use Mac), of different parameters (22050 Hz, 44100 Hz, 48000 Hz, 16 bit Stereo, 8 bit Mono) all of which open well in any other program, but all crash TVP.
I saw in one of the threads that QT may be causing that, but then it was acquitted. I did upgrade QT version not too long ago, could that be a possible cause? I wouldn't like to sacrifice it though...

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
It's quite a possibility that QuickTime is causing the issue, but I couldn't say for sure. Did the problem just start after you upgraded QT?

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
I've recently read on two Vegas forums that the latest version of QT is causing similar crashes. After reverting back to an older version the problem went away.

Update: I have uninstalled QT but still the same: TVP freezes/crashes when loading sound. Anyone maybe has other suggestions?

Can you send us your sound, please ? Through the forum or by e-mail ?

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
Thank you for looking into this Eric.
I don't think my sound files are the issue, I have tried about 20 different files, wavs and mp3s of different sources and configuration.
My best guess is that despite uninstalling QT it has made some kind of hidden changes to Windows so the problem persists. Does anyone know if that can be true, and how to locate the affecting area in the system? When I initially bought TVP it worked fine, but I haven't touched it for a while, and now it has this problem with sound. I uninstalled QT, uninstalled TVP, reinstalled TVP (the newest version) - still the same.

Re: Program crashes when loading sound
nb : we can anyway try your file, just to test if we have the same problem here.
We might find a workaround, who knows ?
I never found where to and how to change this.
