Multiplane camera help?

Post by scottypp »

Hi all, i have successfully created a zoom effect with 2 layers and even managed to pull focus ...woohoo...so im stoked with that..but heres my question: this affect only seems to exist whilst i leave the FXstack window open and have preview checked! if i apply stack nothing happens, if i turn off preview ...nada...if i close fxstack...zip.....is this correct? i realise it allows me to make changes to the relevant layers without affecting the camera move but im just wondering if im missing something or done it right?
Cheers
Scott.

Did you have the right frames and or layers selected? It can be a little finicky, and if you don't have the right frames selected in the timeline.

Hi Brett, well i have 2 layers...i can only select all the frames on one layer at a time...er...cant i?
when i have selected relevant frames on one of the layers and applied stack it converts them all to individual frames but the camera move doesnt work?

What i am trying to do here is a fairly straightforward track out...i have 2 layers..my character and then the BG.

Cheers

Which version of TVP? TVP 10 has a lot more options for the KeyFramer.

Do you have a layer created for which the output is being rendered into? I believe you need to make sure that is correctly selected (I don't remember if you need to create empty frames or not for the rendering to go into)

Im using 9.5, no i dont have a 'new' layer created for the render to go into...it doesnt give me that option in the stack.

Am i correct in saying that i can only select the frames from one layer at a time? i know that i can shift selct on the small icon window in the layer to select multiple layers, but that doesnt do it for the apply stack button. So, if i select frames from one layer at a time and apply stack that still doesnt work????

No, you have to create a layer yourself in the timeline before trying to build the multiplane camera stack, that layer should be selected when you create the effect, so when you hit apply, it gets rendered into the layer. That way you can set timing and such in the layer, for how long you want the effect to happen (which is why I think you need to create empty frames first and select the range of frames you want the effect to go into). I don't think MPC changed between 9.5 and 10.

In MPC TVP 10 you can color group your layers and render as many layers as you want at the same time, the same as with KeyFramer.
