CtrlPaint.com - tutorials done right

Post by Svengali »

The link take you to a free tutorial website http://www.ctrlpaint.com where the instructor, Matt Kohr, presents short, five-minute tutorials, all kinds of accessible discussions on digital illustration, approaches to digital design and fundamental concepts of Photoshop technique.

Matt is very skilled at this style of Voice Over Demo Tutorial presenting bite-sized visual demonstrations, each one focused on a specific PS concept or topic.

He tries to post three, new, free tutorials each week. But to pay for the website he also offers longer, downloadable tutorial modules, @ $10.00 each, which are extended versions of his free tutorials, more comprehensive and focused.

The website has been recently re-designed so as to organize the tutorial content in categories so the viewer can selectively watch those topic groups of immediate interest.

I post this link NOT as an ADVERTISEMENT for Matt, but as an example of a flavor and format that might be successfully applied to TVPaint tutorials. He makes it look easy. But there is a special skill-set at work here combining knowledge of subject, empathy for the audience, establishment of a context and an ability to break down the content into proper steps, in their proper order.

Yep, just about all of the material there can be done with TVPaint (and sometimes, better with TVPaint!) He did a recent series on perspective techniques
