Re: smear brush.
Wait! Some further tests show it is still happening, even on smear brushes that have no parameter changes, usually darkened colors

Re: smear brush.
OK, another oddity, it seems to just be with the large paintbrush, I don't see this with the other smear brushes (the top one is a regular smear paint brush, the second a large paint brush). The fade to black is happening even over top of other colors, resulting in an ugly black spot. This only happens with a brighter color as the first and a duskier color for the second. So maybe something with that brush is acting strange?

Re: smear brush.
Not yet, but thank you for reminding it
Re: smear brush.
It should be improved in the next coming build : 10.0.7, even if not perfect yet.

Re: smear brush.
I'm just checking; was this problem eventually fixed?
Because here it still occurs in 'smear source' mode, but not in 'smear' mode. (I'm using version 10.0.11)

no, it's not yet, but you are right to mention it again !
Re: smear brush.
Thanks Elodie,
Btw, this 'Smear' mode is a great feature, I find. I can see a lot of possibilities in simulating real paint with this one.

Thanks for your kind words
Re: smear brush.
Hi,
I made the original post about a year ago and tried the smear brushes again
on the latest build. However, the problem seems to still be there.
Even though smear produces a nice result a lot of the time, it's too unpredictable
as to what result you are going to get.
I eventually bought manga studio at 49$, which has an excellent paint blending
engine. I'm still temtped by tvpaint's excellent animation and storyboarding tools,
but will need to save up a bit more.

Re: smear brush.
I can't reproduce it
Can you share the brush parameters ?

Re: smear brush.
It's actually an old problem, which is very hard to fix (and actually hard to explain). It depends on the brush, Anti Aliasing, opacity level, etc.
EDIT (Fabrice) : & processor rounding algorythm
