Keyframer - axis
Keyframer - axis
Hello, I'm wondering if there's a way to change the axis location on the screen when using the keyframer? I'd like to rotate around a specific point that's not centered to the screen. I'm running TVPaint 8.5.5 if that helps.
Thanks!!

Hi Emily,
just use the Pivot Point Settings at the Keyframers position tab, to adjust the position of your object in relation to the pivot point. I am not shure if it works in 8.5.

Re: Keyframer - axis
Mark, I like your sketch of the man. Have you tried animating anything in this loose style?

Hi Paul,
thanks . I am often sketching in this way, to keep ideas. I made some animations sometimes, just for fun, like making sketches while talking on the phone to someone. But, theres nothing I could show you at the moment. Anyway, this kind of drawing/animating is part of my thoughts on a future project.

Re: Keyframer - axis
I like it because it's spontaneous and intelligent and also personal -- like the use of handwriting I had mentioned on the other thread. Hand drawn animation becomes strapped to a board with wheels when every line is carefully measured and mathematically justified.
The most difficult part is to keep the inbetweens just as loose but I've adjusted myself to that by recognizing that only some points of the character need to be kept fairly (mathematically) accurate whereas the other (most) lines can get away with pretty large degrees of inaccuracy.

Re: Keyframer - axis
After your post and due to a lazy sunday I searched for one of your films. I found "Still Life of Animated Dogs" on the PBS Channel at Youtube and watched it in a - let's say - OK-quality. I am very impressed by the storys and the way you animated them. They got me a very good example of what you were talking before and maybe I will watch it again today, focussing the animations.
I wasn't succesful in finding a possibility to get one of your DVDs in Europe. Do you know a (online-)shop?
Thanks from Markus

Re: Keyframer - axis
Thanks for the replies!
That doesn't work (might just be the version I'm running). It changes the item's location on the screen, but not the pivot point's relation to the object. But, much appreciated anyhow, thanks!

Re: Keyframer - axis
This feature does work. I advise you to update your 8 version here.

it does work, but not in one step,
you have to :
- set the X/Y values for the new position of the pivot point,
- then set the X/Y values for the layer/custombrush to recover the initial position,
this could be improved, by ctrl+LMB-dragging the pivot point in the HUD preview,
so moving the pivot but keeping things in place.
... in the waiting-room somewhere in the wish-list queue.

Yes, I agree. That would be very nice.ZigOtto wrote:this could be improved, by ctrl+LMB-dragging the pivot point in the HUD preview,

Re: Keyframer - axis
Just want to post a "Thank you" for this...it was driving me crazy and I refused to animate the simple 90 degree turn by hand because I knew there had to be a solution in keyframer and it had become a matter of principle!
