TVPaint crashes after I load sound
TVPaint crashes after I load sound
I haven't used TVPaint in a while, and every time I try to load a sound file TVPaint crashes. I've tried aar, wav, mp3, and mp4. I've tried different files too. Every time it just crashes. I'm using a Mac OS X with a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I tried to update my version of TVPaint via the website, but I would need to choose the 64 bit, but they only have that update for the Professional version of TVPaint, and I have the Student version.
Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
I would say, the student version is identical to the pro version, except the fact, that you are not allowed to use it for commercial projects. You should be able to update with the file you get using the update function.
Which version do you have now?

Are you sure about this? I've always understood that TVPaint doesn't have this condition.Animark wrote:you are not allowed to use it for commercial projects.

No, after you asked me, I am not really sure. I just thought it, because it's often that student versions are not for commercial use. I know that some of adobes student and teacher editions are allowed for commercial use.

Paul, you are totally right, I found this message from Fabrice in a posting from 2008:
Educational Licenses are not time limited and student can use them for commercial purpose. Once they are graduated they can continue to use their license without any new payment... I think it is not a big prices... And then if they want to upgrade to the next version they can benefit of upgrade prices with no problem.

Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
What I've always understood from my students who purchased their student versions was, that if they chose TVP 9.5 for instance, they are in the same position as any non student, except they had to pay less. They can download free updates but have to pay the same as everyone else for trading up to new versions. So in the case of katedraws, she is right. This is why I encourage my students to buy right from the beginning student versions of TVP 10 Pro, if they are hopeful of using it after their studies. About the sound causing crashes in a Mac I know nothing, though I remember reading about it somewhere around here. Maybe a search would lead to an answer on a weekend.
EDIT: Ooops -- so that old post clarifies this.

Katedraws, on first entry in search I found this:

Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
Yep, I remember some issues with sound a while back (9.5 and perhaps early version of 10). Upgrading to the latest version available should fix the issue.

Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
Thanks for all the replys guys. I've tried to update it through the program, but when it brings me to the website it says "Service momentarily unavailable, please retry later."
I tried it last night, and it's still not working this afternoon. When I look for the update on the website, it says they only have the 64 bit for professional, should I just try and download it anyways and see if it'll work for my student version?
And I don't know how to check to see what version I have, but I'm positive that I have an early 10 version.

Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
First try going to your Help Tab in TVP>Check for Updates. This will take you directly to the right place (or normally would). If it works you won't have to even enter your codes -- just download any update available to you and see what that does.

Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
Did you retry later ? (sometimes, the sever is in maintenance and so, you cannot download anything)
Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
I've tried updating it everyday the past three days, and all it says is "Service momentarily unavailable, please retry later."
Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
Yes in fact, I've been said that we disable the service, as the version 10.0.13 was too buggy. Be patient, a new update will be available in the coming days.
Re: TVPaint crashes after I load sound
Thank you! I wasn't aware that there was a new update coming soon. All I was seeing is a constant website that was down. I'll just have to use the school's computers next week for the assignment while I wait for the update to become available.
