Search limitation of the forum is bugging me ;-)

Post by Animark »

Hello,

I am not sure if other users also have this problem, but very often when I search in the forum I get this message, when I want to have a view on the second page of my search results - or even when I typed a wrong word in the search box and want to search again.

Isn't there a possibility to correct this? I think it's a feature against search robots, but for me it's like a bug ;-).

Today I had to do some more searches and must say, the "cannot search" message apears not as often as I thought before, but often enough to get on my nerves.

I haven't seen it in a while. The search function had been turned off at one point (I think when TVP 10 first came out), to lighten the load on the server temporarily. It may be it gets turned off now and then for maintenance purposes. *shrug*

But Animark is correct , this message appears far too often when trying to do a search:

I just did a search of the forum this morning and was only able to view Page 1 of the Search Results. When I clicked to page 2 I received this message: "Sorry but you cannotn use search at this time . Please try again in a few minutes" .

Most of the time it seems to work, but maybe 1 time out of 5 it will give the message about search being unavailable. Wonder if it's some kind of bandwidth throttling preventing too many searches from happening at once.

Yes, we had to made this choice in order to avoid forum crashes, as we had last year (do you remember ?)

Yes, I would agree that the appearance of the "Sorry but you cannot use search at this time . Please try again in a few minutes" message does seem to be somewhat random. It doesn't happen all the time , but it happens often enough to be irritating .
