No play/pause or stop keyboard shortcut on Mac?

Going insane trying to find the keyboard shortcut for play/pause.
I can make one for Play. But that only makes it start playing. Hitting it again won't stop it.
Didn't even find a Stop keyboard shortcut. That would have worked.

Anyone else have problem with this? Am I missing something?

When you play animation, hit the space bar to pause it and hit the space bar again to continue the playback where you stopped it.

If I assign Shift + Spacebar to Preview: Play. And Spacebar used for toggle afterwards.

Is there a reason why Spacebar doesn't work for Play at first?

The Spacebar shortcut is assigned to make a right click (fir Mac users who don't have a right button on their mouse).

The other reason is : when you play (by hitting the button play), you start from the beginning (or from your mark in). When hitting the space bar, you continue where you paused the playback.

I use two types of play;
Key: Preview: Play From Current Image
Space Preview: Play

Don't you use the flipbook play ( default shotcut [w] ) ?
