Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
i'm wondering would it not be possible to use the seldom used (in my case never used) second pen button to toggle between two tools. or two tool sizes even.
i thought about it but couldnt figure out how to do it with the keyboard shortcuts
i think we would need an extra tool toggle option for that... or is there something possible with george?

I'm using the new one - 12WX
As for eraser techniques - yes, I know them all. Currently I have a simple wide eraser set on the eraser tip, and I use the right-click erasing in the regular way for erasing something small and fast. I work on rough animation by using some custom pencil tool, and with right-click I get the same pencil as an eraser. But that's exactly the problem - if I lift the pencil too fast after erasing with the right click, it locks itself.
I dont have another Mac near me to reproduce the problem, but actually while thinking about it, I think I might try reinstalling my Wacom drivers.
Will let you know.

Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
I have reinstalled Wacom drivers - nothing changed. I tend to think that the problem is in TVP performance on MacBook pro , especially with big files - looks like it is just too slow to catch up with action change - every time I click any action - brush, selection, transform tool, eraser or whatever - TVP takes about 1 seconds to change into the new action... I have already posted about performance issue on MacBook pro - as far as I understand there is nothing much to do now...

Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
Hello Soom,
We made a try with a MacBook Pro 10.58, with an intuos 4 and files in 6k x 6k, with several layers.
=> everything works without any lag.
Another solution : look at your undo size, in the preferences panel, cache tab. I should be around 32MB. If it's higher, please lower it.

So I finally figured out why the performance issue - it was mainly because I used textured brushes and textured eraser. I have disabled the paper texture and reduced the undo size (although sometimes I need it to go many steps back, but not crucial), and TVP now runs without lags. But! The eraser lock issue, that this post was all about, did not go away it still lags when I use the right-click-erase, and then remove the pen very fast from the surface and try to erase with the eraser tip... Could you reproduce that action on your MacBook and Cintiq?

Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
That's what we tested soom, with an intuos (we don't have any cintiq here) and a macbook 10.5.8.Soom wrote:The eraser lock issue, that this post was all about [...] Could you reproduce that action on your MacBook and Cintiq?
Result : no lag, even with huge files.
The last thing possible : test TVPaint and your Cintiq on another computer and see if the problem comes from :
• the stylus (the right click still locks, even if you are not using tvpaint)
• the operating system (the bug does not happen on Windows or Linux)
• the hardware (the bug only happen with G5/G4 mac but not on intel mac)
Once again, I don't think the problem directly comes from the software. Even if the problem appears with TVPaint, it does not mean TVPaint is the source of the problem.
That's bug is really annoying. But as no other cintiq and TVPaint user seems having the same problem, we cannot confirm the bug comes from TVPaint. Reasons can be numerous (hardware, driver conflict, software's configuration etc...)

Hi Elodie
An old post, but problem not solved even after I bought a new MacBook Pro and installed the latest Wacom drivers again.
I'm still on TVP 9.5 though, don't know if it has been solved in 10, and I'm still on Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8, so I don't know if it changed in Mountian Lion.
And this behavior still appears only in TVPaint...

Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
A new MacBook Pro with 10.6.8, how did you do that ?
Or did you erase the disk before installing 1.6.8 ?
Or did you erase the disk before installing 1.6.8 ?
Quicktime is DEAD. Get over it and move on !

Can't you download the demo version of TVPaint 10 and try ?Soom wrote:I'm still on TVP 9.5 though, don't know if it has been solved in 10,

Ehmm.. - I did erase the disk - why is it strange?ematecki wrote:A new MacBook Pro with 10.6.8, how did you do that ?

Not that strange, just uncommon. =)Soom wrote:Ehmm.. - I did erase the disk - why is it strange?ematecki wrote:A new MacBook Pro with 10.6.8, how did you do that ?

But IMO, I think you did it right : I also preferred the 10.6.8 version é_è

And as a developper... I'm still trying to find something good to say about 10.8 :( :(

Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
I found only one : when you hit the space bar to preview a document, if you go (for example), to your email box at the same time, the previewed document will be always visible. That's not the case in the 10.6.8 version.
Re: Eraser lock bug on Wacom pen
I do like Mountain Lion in general, but I had really serious issues with it, which forced me to downgrade to Snow Leopard. For example I couldn't run Adobe Extensions manager CS3 to install plugins on Flash CS3. Also Flash CS6 had terrible performance issues on ML. Also some other programs couldn't be installed. So I just went back to SL - I had no choice basically. That's why I erased the ML partition and installed SL on it.
