mysteriously deleting my previous files, help please :(

Post by maryam »

I'm not sure what is happening.
But I save my files all the time.
I've noticed my some of my files' contents are deleted! I don't understand how!
I went back to make some changes to an animation I did yesterday. and I noticed some of my tvpp files, when open them they are empty.
nothing there!!
I have spent hours animating one of them and I would save it every 5minute, so I have no doubt it was saved, not I went back for some changes and it's gone.
the file is there and it's name but it's empty! blank page! I don't get it!
I've noticed the same thing with some other files before. I thought maybe I forgot to save them. but this one, I was saving it every 5minute! how did it disappear?!!
Any suggestions please? :'(

This is crazy. Right now I was working on two different files. and saved both. quit tvpaint and opened again. one of them opened and was fine, the other one opened and was blank :(
another 2hours wasted! what's going on with my files? :'(
I really appreciate anyone who can save me from this nightmare!
I'm scared of closing my files now which is impractical considering I have to keep the dongle usb in my laptop!

Do you have your automated backups activated?

Set it to 10 and see what happens. You open the backups by dragging the file onto TVP's interface.

I take it there is no chance for me to get my previous work back?

What does the number mean? The last 10 times I pressed the save button?

Thanks for replying.

oops. It's not that I know what is going on but I have a few ideas of things you can try. Which version of TVP do you have? Give me all the numbers, including the decimals for me to know which build you have.

I could try and call you tomorrow, maybe?
if it's easier?

I can't afford to animate in tvpaint with being frightened each time I quit tvpaint!
I need it fixed!

That's good. Where do you save your files to; which drive? When you say you open the saved file, how do you do that?

Just saw your new post. By tomorrow you'll have people from TVP Development answering this thread. To me it sounds like a virus because what you describe is unheard of -- at least I have never heard of it. I'm just thinking that you might be opening the Temp file or something like that.

When I press save for the first time, it asks me where I want it to be saved, and I then save it in a folder that I want, and I open it from that folder.
There is only one file with that name(the name I saved the file with).
Because when I search my mac with that name , that's the only thing which shows up!

Oh God! How am I supposed to find this virus now!

To me it's weird too! because I treat all my files the same! some are saved , and some magically gets their contents deleted and come out blank!
