Windows 8 troubles

Post by ttiger077 »

I have Windows 8 64-bit. I got TVPaint today and installed it on my computer, restarted my computer and when I click on the desktop shortcut it shows up in my task bar, but doesn't open in a window.

I opened the .exe file from my hard drive too and it does the same thing. I also tried running the program in compatibility mode for Windows 7 and it didn't work

Please help! Thank you.

Hi Tiger,

We don't have noticed this problem at this time, but we are checking nowadays.
We will come back to you shortly.

Hello Tiger,

Sorry for the late answer, but we had a problem with our own license of Windows 8, so he had to re-install everything. Unfortunately, you won't have any precise information before Monday.

Anyway, that's really strange. We have Windows 8 users here and they didn't experience this kind of behavior.

I thought I would give it another try this morning. At first it didn't work, but then I had an idea. I'm running 3 monitors on my desktop computer, so I disconnected all but the main display and it came right up.

Maybe TVPaint has a solution so that I can run my other monitors? But I'm happy I got it running.

MAC or PC? If PC it's a good guess that the solution is within your graphics card -- which one do you have? I know zilch about MACs.

Have you tried to only have one monitor connected? Maybe TVPint is opening on a monitor that is not active or something. Have you tried to start TVpaint holding shift down all the way while tvpaint start so the preference start popup should appears. is it? af if yes try to choose the default configuration

It seems the problem came from what you supposed, Mads, following an email exchange Fabrice and I have got with his teacher : TVPaint started on another screen in fact :)

Everything seems to be working now. Maybe it was just that initial first launch that the program, video card, and monitors didn't communicate together. But it comes up every time now with out a hitch.
Thanks for the help. :)

Hello,

I have exactly the same issue here...
But the TvPaint logo doesn't even appear in the task bar.
I tried to plug only one screen, but it doesn't seem to work ...
The process is lauching, and not hanging, but the window doesn't appear at all ...

I noticed that TVPAINT Was running as a "Background process" ...
I think if I wan't to have it back I must be able to make it run as an application ...
Anyone knows how to do that??

Sorry for the late reply,
But the problem came from me !
There is the bug with the 32 bits version.
But it works just fine with 64 bits ...
Here's the screenshot anyway: Image
