Wacom Standalone Tablets
Wacom Standalone Tablets
I've opened a new thread because I expect to be seeing some news over the coming years regarding standalone tablets with Wacom integration.
By now we have the Note line by Samsung and the Surface Pro but it seems there are more interesting products on the way:
This announcement is from Wacom's American Facebook page:
"We’ve heard you shouting out loud for a Wacom mobile tablet for creative uses. Well… we’re listening. We’ve read your email and spoken to many about an on-the-go dream device. It will come. This summer. We’re working 24/7 on it. And yes, it has a real pressure-sensitive professional pen, smooth multi-touch, an HD display, and other valuable features that you haven’t seen in other tablets."
This tablet revolution is finally becoming real interesting.

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
I remember to have explained to Wacom in Japan they should do this. It was almost 4 years ago ...
I hope they won't force us to use an other stupid xxxxstore, like some other tablet brand.

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
It will most likely have Samsung hardware since they have just recently started an alliance with Wacom. It could even be that they are referring to the next generation Note tablets.

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
This looks promising, I would love a slate tablet with programmable hotkeys like the Cintiq. Who knows, we may even see tilt sensitivity.
Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
Or approach them and ask. I can imagine they'd be happy to have TVPaint as a partner.Fabrice wrote: yes, so we have to push forward the android version

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
Well, this is a good question.
I can't report here 20 years of relashionships we had with Wacom, that's not the place and it would be too long.
To explain it quickly, there are also a lot of parameters to take into account :
* the discussion I had 4~5 years ago in Tokyo with them, explaining that not having an agreement with Apple to put a Stylus on the Ipad was probably not the best move.
* the drawing tablets (intuos / cintiq) monopoly position during so many years + the patents.
* the recent exchanges we had with Wacom USA during the CTN Expo. (Thanks Mark/lemec, you really helped !)
Right now, I would say the problem from my point of view is to find and convince the right person.
I will do my best and keep you in touch.

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
WACOM DTK-1300 as Cintiq 13HD will coming on the pricd EURO 900 / USD 1,000 / 99,800 JPY.
It is compatibly with ntuos5technology, not tablet PC.
However you well see Panasonic with WACOM a new Windows 8 pro smart tablet for corporate model call ''feel'' 10.1inch model in accórdance with IP65 (International Protection Rating code / IEC60529).

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
Sigh... That 13 in Cintiq is awfully expensive. You can buy two Note tablets for that price.

Re: Wacom Standalone Tablets
A google search brings up lots of CES first reports and pictures on the newly announced, large screen Panasonic: 2hr battery?Fabrice wrote:what is the resolution of this panasonic tablet ?
"...We first saw the prototype Panasonic 4K 20-inch tablet at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. But it won' remain a prototype for much longer. Yup, this mega-size, ultra HD tablet is heading to the shelves later in the year.
Aimed at the pro market, the giganta-tab - which doesn't have an official name or price point as yet - packs in a 3840 x 2560 pixel resolution across its 20-inch LED-backlit surface. But it doesn't add on the pounds. Weighing in at around 2.2kgs, it feels really light considering its sheer scale.
Tucked in to the trim body is an Intel Core i5 1.8Ghz processor with Nvidia GeForce graphics and 16GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD for storage. We had a play with the Windows 8 touchscreen and all that power sure does deliver the heat - and we mean literally; the rear of the tablet felt very warm to the touch when rested on the one hand. "
PCMagazine review - says stylus technology not Wacom, not pressure sensitive. Hmm.
The ToughPad tablets at the Panasonic site - looks like the 10.1 resolution is 1024 x 768? MSRP somewhere around $3,000.00?
