Wacom Radial Menu is acting wrong on TVP 10

Post by Soom »

I was working before on my Mac on TVP 9.5 on a Cintiq 12", and everything was fine.
Now I'm in a studio on a PC with a Cintiq 22" and TVP 10, and I have a huge problem with the Radial Menu.
I am using the RAdial Menu a lot, but I cannot use it here. The problem is, that when I click any function on the Radial Menu, TVP recognizes it as a normal click, and messes up everything, because along with the selected function in the menu, it also does whatever it would do as if the Radial Menu is not even on.
I thought it's a Wacom driver problem, but it works fine in all other software - clicking the Radial Menu doesn't also click under it...
Hope It sounds clear... :/

As we don't have any cintiq there, we cannot really help you with that Radial Menu =/

Ouch! No Cintiq?! bum!
Ok, but I guess it is the same on any other Wacom tablet. Radial menu exists in any Wacom tablet as far as i know... It's an option in Wacom settings

If it's the same thing, I use the radial menu successfully with TVP10 (but called by the software a Touch Ring) on my Wacom 4 tablet. I use it to scrub the timeline and it does that really nicely, even at several speeds.

Paul - I think it's not the same - I suppose you mean the physical touch ring that is on your wacom tablet side - just where the buttons are? It only exists on Intuos 4 and some newer Cintiqs. What I mean - is a Radial Menu - a menu you can invoke on the screen and click the functions with the mouse (or pen).

Oh, so that's what it is; something that is built into the cintiq's software I suppose. Just for my curiosity, what functions of TVP do you use to bring up with the dial?

Not only Cintiq - as I said - it should exist in any Wacom driver - my intuos 3 has it too. If you go to your Wacom prefs, you should see a panel for it, under the Functions tab.
How I use it:
I have set the third pen button to invoke the menu. Then on the menu I usually have:
1. Copy
2. Paste
3. Cut
4. Copy to custom brush
5. Stamp in place
6. Save as...
7. Save
8. Enter

In rare occasions I alter the functions - depends on the project. You can also add sub-menus, which I don't use, but might be helpful if you need more functions.
With this , and the side buttons, I never need to use the keyboard, or to look through the menus in the software... It really speeds up my work - at least I am used to it already. But it doesn't work on the configuration I have in the studio...

Now I remember looking at that a few years ago and wondering who would need that. :) But thanks for the heads up -- and no, I can't get it to work either.

Ah, didnt know Intuos 5 exists. Anyway it's a function built into all Wacom drivers. So did you check this issue?

On the MAC I didn't have it either... The problem is on Windows probably... but in all other software it works fine - the problem only on TVP... I will try to ask this in Wacom forum also

I got radial Menu to work on my PC. I programmed my bottom rocker switch of the pen to show Radial Menu and set one of the express buttons of the tablet also to Radial Menu, and that pretty much does it. Maybe I'll start liking this, but it sure feels odd -- like emigration to a new country (you love it only if you need badly to get out of the first one.)
EDIT:I got the pen switch to become a cut brush the same way: one of the tablet's buttons has to be set to the same keystroke.

Paul - not sure what do you mean about the cut brush. I always had the express keys and the radial menu set up for all different functions. My problem here is that wherever I click the radial menu on the screen, it also registers as a click in TVP , which is not supposed to happen... Can you check it on your PC? Just pick the fill bucket tool (so you see the result clearly), then click anything in the radial menu - in my case the pen clicks through the menu, and it's no good at all :(

The cut brush note was a reference to another thread that is of a similar Wacom/TVPaint issue as this one (I live under the assumption that everyone follows all the threads, sorry). Anyway, the radial menu works as expected here.
