Changing framerate, no conversion project
Changing framerate, no conversion project
I'd like it if tvpaint didn't make a 'conversion' project when changing the framerate of a project without stretching the frames to a new framerate.
I do this pretty often and it's a little annoying, because it changes the project name and suddenly you've got the same project twice. Changing the framerate is not such a big deal.

when using "modify project", you have a check box "close the current project".

Ah, "remove project"Fabrice wrote:when using "modify project", you have a check box "close the current project".
I never noticed it before. I'll use that from now on.
It still renames the project to "Conversion" (without converting anything)

Re: Changing framerate, no conversion project
changing the project's framerate is somehow a conversion, even when the "stretch to new framerate" option is OffLukas wrote:Fabrice wrote: It still renames the project to "Conversion" (without converting anything)
(non-destructive, because nothing changing in the frames content),
try to keyframe a 12fr/s project as source into a 25fr/s project of the same size, and you'll see what I mean.
Re: Changing framerate, no conversion project
I know it does, I just don't like it when it renames my project. Especially because it's not necessary at all.
Anyway, I use "tv_FrameRate 12.5" in an embedded george script now. It converts the project to 12.5 without stretching and without adding "Conversion" to the project name.

Re: Changing framerate, no conversion project
I'll share my panel in case anyone else finds this useful too. I only ever use 12.5 and 25, and I hate the "conversion" double projects, that's why I use this.
The green buttons just change the framerate and nothing else. The red buttons stretch the project, THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE. There's a "Are you sure?"-window with a Cancel button though.

Brilliant!
(I don't understand why this isn't the TVPaint default way to behave when switching between frame rates...)

Do you use soundtracks ?Joost wrote:I'll share my panel in case anyone else finds this useful too. I only ever use 12.5 and 25, and I hate the "conversion" double projects, that's why I use this.

I guess so.Fabrice wrote:I would say not necessary in your workflow
Is there anything I should keep an eye on when stretching the project while using soundtracks?Fabrice wrote:Do you use soundtracks ?

Re: Changing framerate, no conversion project
No, but that shouldn't make a difference.Do you use soundtracks ?
Switching between 12,5 fps and 25 fps shouldn't affect the soundtrack, or am I wrong?...
The only thing I want to say is that the panel Lukas created is working fine for me!

glad to read the users help each otherThe only thing I want to say is that the panel Lukas created is working fine for me!
My concern was when using the soundtrack and when changing the framerate throught the project panel (not by using "modify project"). In this situation, it makes a real difference.

Hmmm, I don't think I understand.Fabrice wrote:My concern was when using the soundtrack and when changing the framerate throught the project panel (not by using "modify project"). In this situation, it makes a real difference.
The buttons do exactly the same things as you'd do trough the Modify project window. (Of course, there's less options, but as I said, I only use these options, never 30 fps / 6 fps etc)
When using a soundtrack you have to use the Red buttons (the ones that stretch the frames to the new framerate). It works fine.
The green ones don't stretch the project, so of course the animation would go out of sync with the soundtrack. (but this also happens trough Modify project)
