Audio Playback not working

I've been using TVpaint standard for about 2 months now and through out that time I've never had any problems with it until now.
Recently the audio playback has been acting up. First the rate started to decrease automatically, then it stopped playing back entirely (no matter which project I chose). Has anybody else had this problem? If so, please let me know.

please could you grab a screenshot of the interface ?
that would help to find what happened exactly.

Actually, I figured out the problem. I forgot to enable the sound. I feel like an idiot.

But how did a turned off switch make the sound slow down?
